We Consider this an extreme version of an American Pale Ale. It has a very up front floral and citrus aroma from a late cascade addition and dry hopping with Amarillo. This beer also has a big malt background to balance the bitterness of the hops. The rye malt cleans up your palette after you swallow so the hop flavor does not stick in your mouth too long.

Pours bright orange with a thick white head, drop to leave lots of lacing. Citrus hop aroma, bready notes. The taste is not as citrusy as aroma would indicate. Grainy malt backbone. Citrus hop kick at the start, finishes more towards the bitter. Clean, crisp mouthfeel. My first brew from Terrapin, won’t be my last.

Recently sampled from a can, I was pleasantly surprised with this offering from Terrapin. Pours a honey accented-orange standard pale ale color, with a white foamy head. Aroma of brown sugar and sweet malt, with pacific hops. The rye comes through subtly in the taste with a sweet rye malt flavor with toasty brown sugary malt also; there is a solid hoppy bitterness to be sure, but this is well balanced by the strong malty notes. Features a solid medium bodied mouthfeel also. This is an exceptionally good beer overall, more enjoyable than the Hopsecutioner. A recommended malt-centric distinctive pale ale.

Very bitter hoppiness but the rye malt really cuts into the bitterness on the finish. As a big fan of rye whiskey and other rye beer I really enjoyed this one. Not your usual pale ale but a real nice change of pace from the norm. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This rye PA poured a medium Amber colour with a nice, foamy, off white head. Scents include spruce hops, light citrus hops and a little varnish? First swig was a little thin but a good belt of citrus hops. Flavours of tea, grapefruit and malt most prominent. Finish is bitter with hop flavour lingering...

UPDATED: JUL 15, 2015 12 oz can. Pours clear honey colored. Aroma of citrus, grain, tropical fruit. Flavor of citrus, spicy rye, bread, tea. A fun take on a pale ale that adds the kick of rye without overpowering.

12 oz. bottle with a best before date of 8/21/15. Thanks going to weihenweizen for this opportunity. Copper in color with fast dying head. Aroma has a large fruit character with the rye coming in underneath.

The flavor has the mentioned rye with some mild cascade hops ( floral and fruity) the body is on the real thin side (borderline watery). Other than the thin mouthfeel this is a pleasing brew. No off flavors, freshness is paramount on this one. The rye saves this brew for me.
