3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Had this on tap at Humphrey’s in Huntsville the other day. Smooth, but dry for a double IPA. Nice hops which I have become familiar with drinking the Terrapins.

Sweet caramel and balanced hop aroma. Nice off white head and deep amber body. Sweet flavors of carmalized malt, light rye, berries and fresh hops. Smooth and juicy on the palate.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A lightly hazed reddish amber ale with a thick frothy lacing mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with treacle, grassy floral hops, surranated, earthy and smooth. In mouth, a sweet fruity caramel malt with fruity esters, light honey, alcohol warmth, resinous floral hops, treacle, very nice after a few years. Bottle.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
a lighter in color (between yellow and amber) than the brown, with an ever so slightly livlier hop presence in the aroma and flavor. malt still dominates and is pretty similar to that of the brown, just a touch lighter. I enjoyed this at a local baseball game, shocked to find a brand new beer on tap there. doesn’t distinguish itself from it’s predecessor a whole lot, but it was good enough, and like the brown, a light in flavor non-offensive beer."

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
In short: A bomb of expressive rye cereals with assertive hops. My type of beer.
How: Bottles 12oz, many times. This rating is a mix of two old ratings on paper for presumably fresh bottles while I was drinking a bottle I think wasn’t very fresh.
The look: Cloudy orange-amber body topped by a very small beige head.
In long: Nose is rye and then more rye over a bed of floral and piney hops and some toasted notes. I always got a nice freshness quality from the rye aroma/taste of this beer, more so than in most other rye beers I’ve ever had. In mouth the beer offers a thick juicy body that doesn’t feel heavy, plenty of bubbles, very pleasant mouthfeel here. Taste is more than satisfying. Some cookies-like cereals but mainly plain fresh rye, lots of it, not too toasted, very juicy, typical inherent rye spiciness sensation. A solid hopping where I noted the basic usual suspects (piney, grapefruity, floral) leading to a bitterness of medium intensity. I’ve always been a sucker for rye beers and this one always delivered. Another rating for me, an if you would have told me when I was a child that one day I would grow up and I use the internet mainly for rating beers and watch Russian lesbians porn, well, that would have been a pretty sick thing to say to a child.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A- Pours a deep ruddy orange hue with a nice, 2 finger off white head.
S- Smell is dominated by caramel, floral hops, and perhaps a bit of a mettalic tinge.
T- Taste is very malty, caramel, sweet dark fruits, and floral notes followed by a piney hop character.
M- Thick with medium/low carbonation
D- This was a great tasting beer, if it was available to me I would pick it up much more often. Extremely glad I got it as an extra.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
One of the better pale ales, mostly because of the "imperial" properties in such nice balance.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The beer pours great with deep orange/amber hue to it, a nice foamy mildly off white one finger head and good lacing on the glass. The beer smells great with deep fruity, citrus, and piney blended scent. The beer tastes great with an orange, raisins, honey, citrus hoppiness that fades away slowly into a mild hoppy bitterness. The mouthfeel is decent as the beer is carbonated appropriately, the beer is full bodied, and leaves you with a mildly sweet bitterness lingering. Overall, a decent Imperial Pale Ale but very similar to most Imperial Pales I have tasted, nothing really stands out from this one but it doesnt mean this one wasnt good, well worth it.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a cloudy orange with almost no head what so ever and minimal lacing.
Smells like bread and yeast with a rye spiciness. Hardly any hop presence in the nose.
Some spicy rye hits the palate initially and it quickly rounds into a very sweet bread flavor. Again hardly any hop presence here which is kind of surprising. Just a touch of bitterness at the finish.
Fairly thick and a little syrupy. Decent carbonation levels. The alcohol is not terribly well hidden in this beer.
A bit too much of a malt bomb. The sweetness overpowers the rye flavors and if I didn’t know better wouldn’t guess from the taste there was rye in here at all. It was hard to get through the bottle because it got a bit cloying.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is a really unique beer that drinks more like a barleywine than an imperial pale ale, which may be in part due to its aged. The rye shines through to give this beer a really interesting flavor profile which also consists of raisins and candy orange.
