Strong notes of malt on this amber colored imperial pilsner. The malt show the sweetness as well as the the deep abv. The finish gives a sense of bitter hops.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jzzbassman (1249) - New Albany, Mississippi, USA - SEP 12, 2011
Pours slightly hazy orange without much head. VERY sweet nose, caramel and alcohol dominate everything else. Flavor still sweet but not as syrupy as the nose would have me believe. Full bodied, light carbonation.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Boutip (3294) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 19, 2011
Bottle: Poured a dirty hazy beige color lager with an average size foamy head with OK retention and light lacing. Aroma of sweet malt base with some floral hops is quite interesting. Taste is also an interesting mix between some sweet malt with are offset by floral hops with light bittering and dry finish. Body is quite full with limited filtration and good carbonation. Maybe a tad too sweet for the style with not enough dry hops.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Niko100 (1082) - New York, USA - AUG 14, 2011
Hazy amber/orange color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of malt, yeast, hay, & floral hops; Flavor of sweet malt, caramel/toffee, spicy hops, grain, and some citrus; Finish is slightly bitter; Overall, pretty good - I enjoyed it.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 glennmastrange (1542) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - AUG 8, 2011
Bottle. Moderate to heavy malt notes of grain and hay, moderate perfume and orange liqueur for the hops, light dough and musty for the yeast with date, white wine, wood and alcohol in the background. Head is average size, fizzy, off-white with some spotty lacing and is almost fully diminishing. Color is sparkling clear amber/orange. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic, and moderately bitter. Palate is on the fuller side of medium, watery with a carbonation between soft and lively, and has a moderately alcoholic finish. This Imperial Pilsener has both complexity in the aroma and fine balance in the flavor.
2.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 EithCubes (3039) - GERMANY - JUL 31, 2011
Bomber, name is almost as good as my homebrew "Badunkafunk". Nose is soft and malty, lightly Bohemian? Dark golden with plenty of carbonation and a finely-bubbled tan head. Heavy, weighty alcohol in the mouth, a real drawback, with a dominant caramel/dark malt base. Don’t like this malt-hop combination or the yeast. Full-bodied and just way too heavy to enjoy, almost syrupy.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 coldbrewky (1111) - Saugerties, New York, USA - JUL 23, 2011
Bomber procured at Bourbon Street P-burg. Full bodied and to the point a powerfully honey sweet malt base encapsulated in single tone of biting hop. Took me awhile to finish this critter on such a hot day. Swimming in the neighbors pond did help it go down. Nose is well present as are the wavy legs. My brain hurts.
