Legend had is Captín Krunkles is the most feared pirate on the high seas. No one has seen him, his ship, or the great beer his band of pirates drinks has lived to tell about it. Until now. Made with a bombardment of hops to defeat your tastebuds in battle and all the black malt you can stand before walking the plank, this Black I.P.A. will make it worth going down with the ship.

Bomber courtesy of Doodler (thanks Scott) pourd a clear dark brown with a lasting tan head. Aromaof roastiness, grapefruit, earthiness, light pine and a hint of charcoal. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of roastiness, charcoal, grapefruit, earthiness and a hint of pine with a smooth dry lingering bitter roasty finish.

Very deep brown, a little ruby light shines through. Nose is roast, caramel & piney hop. Flavor is caramel, nice roast, big pine character with some tropical hop notes. Finish is bittersweet chocolate & pine with lingering caramel. I recognize that this bottle isnít the freshest in the world but I prefer it to fresh samples of Captín Krunkles that I had.

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a red shine under a brown head.. The aroma has notes of hops, roasted malt, and over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet with roasted malt, wood, hops, and lemon, leading to a bitter finish.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours pitch black with a light brown head. Fresh aroma hops in the nose combined with sweet roast vanilla - licorice allsorts. Medium body, again sweet roast and a dry and hoppy finish from both hops and roasted malts. But in general not a great Black IPA. 230511

sample at RBSG 2010 - Pours very dark brown and smells of pine heavy hops. The flavor has the expected dark roast malt as well as the ample hops of an IPA. The pine of the aroma continues as a tasty accent. Medium bodied. Very good.

Pours black with a tall tan head. The citrus hop aroma combines with a soft roast malt characteristic of a good porter. Hoppy, yet dark and malty flavor. Some bitter coffee on the back end. Nice medium body.
