3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Picked this up while on vacation in Orlando at Knightly Spirits. Maybe my expectations were too high being a big fan of Stones Sublimely and Southern Tiers Iniquity black IPAs, but I expected more from this beer. Thought the hop profile was moderate at best.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very dark amber, almost opaque. Big, long-lasting off-white head with heavy lacing. Aroma is chocolate malt and flowery hops. A little sweetness, a lot of bittering hop, and taste like a dark roast coffee bean. Light to medium body, low carbonation.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
on draft at cap ale DT. black pour with a beige head going toward brown. roasty malt nose balanced with piney hops with a bit of a pineapple thing happening too. similar flavor profile: roast first, hops very strong but coming in second to the malts. this black IPA definitely tends toward the interpretation of the style that accentuates the roasted malts rather than just using them/it just for coloring, which I dig, but if thatís not what youíre expecting, be prepared.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bottle. Pours black with a small head. Aroma is coffee, herbs, chocolate, and some light floral scents. Taste is coffee, bitter hops, and chocolate. Mouthfeel is thicker with an astringent finish. Very good BIPA.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber to pint glass. Pour is dark brown to black, loose tan head with subtle lacing. Nose is all hops fading to roast malt. Mouth is smoky malt with a bit of sweet. Finish is bitter, coffee but smooth. Pretty nice.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a deep black as you would expect of a black ipa. Smells of hops and alcohol and corn. Tastes the same.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A couple of BA traders have asked me about this beer when I told them I could get Terrapin. I bought one for someone, and then picked one up for myself to see what all the Hooplah was about:
Ap: Pours black as night, with a 1/2 inch head that left instantly, and carbonation to spare.
Ar: Not really strong in the aroma department, but what Iím getting reminds me of Coca-Cola - slightly bitter, with a hop sizzle.
T: Not at all vicious, actually very malty, and much smoother than I expected.
P: Frothy lacing and very creamy in texture. Very soothing.
O: Nothing really special about this one, but the beer itself is not too pretentious. Also, I REALLY love the bottle art!

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours jet black, no light comes through even when put directly in front of a light. Tan head that gives way to nice lacing. Aroma of slightly burnt malt and citrusy hops. Very similar taste although little heavier on the malt than the smell. Overall, very drinkable and very unique. A quality experiment.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
A- Pours a dark black color with a large tan head that has excellent lacing and retention. Looks great in the glass.
S- The aroma is largely comprised of piney hop resins with very faint roasted malts. Smells great, canít wait to try it!
T- The taste like the aroma has some faint roasted malts in the background with the hops clearly stealing the show in this one creating a nice lingering bitterness that leaves you craving the next sip.
M- The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a perfect amount of carbonation.
D- Overall, this is probably my favorite Side Project beer to date. I really enjoyed it. Canít wait to try the next new release from Terrapin!
