The Terrapin ""Dos Cocoas"" gets its name from the deep history of chocolate and the two forms of Ecuadorian cocoa we use in this exceptional beer. Brewed with 100% cocoa powder, and aged on a bed of pure cocoa nibs, the chocolate flavor in this beer is so mouth watering it will even make Wonka jealous.

Poured from a bomber into a tulip. Nearly jet black with a mocha head. Aroma is roast and chocolate. The taste is roast, chocolate, ash, lactose and a bit metallic. Heavy on the sweetness, but has a slightly dry bitter finish. Body is light/medium with soft carbonation. Overall, a nice twist on a porter.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Sparrow, 9/22/13

Aroma: The nose is dark chocolate, roast, a little smoke, and some earth as well
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color, with a thin, light, beige colored head and drippy lace
Flavor: Tastes lightly sweet/chocolate, but more so roasty, notes of earthy bitterness and smoke
Palate: The body is light-medium, a touch thin, with average carbonation, and a dry, smoky finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a solid one, although the mouthfeel does leave a touch to be desired. It just comes off as a little thin and dull in the feel. As for the rest of the beer, the chocolate is present, obviously, but the roast dominates it, and the smoke and earth act as nice bit characters as well. Thereís a nice foundation here, but it could use a little work.

Bomber, this one 5.6% abv instead of six. Nose bracingly, overpoweringly hot chocolate and cocoa powder. Pours opaque pitch brown with a creamy, dense light brown head, laces well but no legs. Watery light body again all dark choco and cocoa powder, but itís a clean and pure strain. No hops or significant bitterness to weigh this down, itís sweet but not cloying, and not really even noticeably -- much more chocolate/cocoa than sweet, if that makes any sense at all. Very light, very gentle smoke and ash. Smooth with prickling carbonation, no alcohol presence. This concoction is decidedly un-beery but I am greatly supportive. And think it would pair superbly with a chili dish, or as a chili variant, either at this level of easygoing wateriness or gummed up with extra body and alcohol (and some roast. Yum!).

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of tootsie rolls, chocolate fudge, cocoa powder, chocolate malt. Super chocolatey aroma. Flavor of chocolate malt, cocoa powder followed by darker, bitter chocolate, and roasted malts. Nice chocolate porter, rather complex. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)

Poured from a bottle this beer is a chocolate brown with a slight head. The aroma is of chocolate. It tastes of roasted coffee with chocolate overtones that linger on the palate
