The aroma has notes of roasted and charred malt, molasses, bakers and milk chocolate, fig, and leathery esters. The taste is surprising in it lack of sweetness I figured would be there, more a porter than a beer with chocolate. Roasty and ashy with some lactic twang and hint of coffee towards the finish. While this is a porter so I expected only a moderate mouth feel, this is far too thin bodied for the flavor profile, hell it is truly watery. Starts nice but finished with a thud. Another in the line of disappointing Terrapin Side Project beers... but I will keep trying them cause you never know. USCBeerMan (109), Columbia, South Carolina, USA

Lightly sweet, the cocoa comes through and is an impressive touch. Roasted, dark malty cocoaness, very smooth, but also a bit thin. Very Good overall. bconley (351), Fern Park, Florida, USA

Pitch black pour with a small off-white head. Lightly sweet, the cocoa comes through very nicely. Roasted, dark malt flavor, more light cocoa, very smooth, but also a bit thin. Decent overall, very glad to have the chance to try this though. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 4, 2009 Dark brown pour with a thin off-white head. Grainy aroma, quite light on the roast, some discernible cocoa notes. Some alkaline cocoa hints, mild chocolate, a nice slight roastiness on the finish. Even though the chocolate doesn’t come through, it’s still a nice porter. beerbill (1989), Laurel, New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 4, 2009 22 oz. bottle shared by goldtwins. Pours a clear dark brown. Pleasant aroma of malt and chocolate. The flavor is more malt than anything else with just a touch of chocolate. Smooth at the finish. Given the name of the beer and its description, I was expecting more of a presence from the chocolate. Unfortunately, that was not the case. grandridge (222), Port Clinton, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 4, 2009 Aroma is standard roast and chocolate, not the heaviest chocolate aroma out there but nice. A little watery in the mouthfeel. Aroma would suggest a thicker brew. Flavor is descent but a little light. I know it’s only a Porter but I expect a little more. What chocolate is there, is nice. I do enjoy the carbonated feel to this, which makes it sessionable. notalush (2699), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Mar 31, 2009 Thanks to goldtwins for sharing - fairly straightforward and boring, which is what I’ve come to expect from these guys - light roast and chocolate and brown sugar sweetness - semi-vegetal qualities through the middle - a bit bitter - mild berry-ish fruitiness - drinkable, but I’d pass on it in the future.
