COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The legendary hop-hunter Krunkles turns up yet again, back from a tour of the Orient. His goal this time is to get experimental; his unbounded travels have earned him an honorary doctorate (“Doctor of what?”, you may ask. This would be a question to which only Krunkles knows the answer…) and he’s sequestered himself in the lab perfecting a never-before-seen formula for his beloved IPA. Dr. Krunkles White Farmhouse IPA reaches new heights in complexity and flavor by combining the malt and spices of a Belgian Witbier, the yeast of a Farmhouse Ale, and the hoppy goodness of an American IPA. Dr. Krunkle’s twisted touch is a dash of white peppercorn followed by wood aging on white ash.

Bottle: Poured a yellow color ale with some hazy white hue and a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of coriander and wheat malt with some light citrusy hops is quite pleasant. Taste is also a well balanced mix between some coriander and other spices with light fruity ester with some light dry citrus hops and light sweet rustic malt which may contain some wheat. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. This beer is not necessarily earth shattering but well enjoyable with good drinkability.

tmoreau (2362) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - AUG 21, 2014
Shared bomber poured to snifters, displaying a hazed, orangey gold color, with a frothy layer of soft white head foam. and wavy lacing. The nose was Grand Marnier/Cointreau-like orange, with peach, light spice, and some alcohol presence. Less than medium bodied but effervescent, the taste contributed a low, citrus & rind hop bitterness, and was definitely less expressive than the aroma, but nicely drinkable.

Bomber. Nose is very herbal, very spicy -- a raid of the spice cabinet and resultant inclusion of everything, and is a bit more herbal but otherwise reminds me of canning/pickling experiments. The hops are somewhat suppressed. Yeast and vanilla, pepper, detergent, but very fresh. Pours with a huuuge and fizzy off-white head above a clear golden body with bits of orange and somewhat above-avg carb. Sweet but not sugary taste, almost now bitterness, some hops with alcohol warmth and faint pepper in the finish, though. The middle is dominated more by herbs, floral types like lavender and rose hips, and soft spice. There’s also a lot of fresh-squeezed orange juice and a but of lemon; whether the citrus comes from the hops or direct addition, I cannot say. Oily medium body, soft wheaten character. Definite Belgian yeast. A tough one to judge; it’s clean and refreshing, and I absolutely like all of the components, but the overall effect is nothing but weird and I don’t want another.

BeerandBlues2 (9586) - Hanover, Maryland, USA - JUL 20, 2014
Bottle at home. Pours lightly hazy orange with a huge, frothy and pillowy off-white head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is passion fruit, mango and lemon zest tropical hops, light grapefruit notes, pale biscuit and cracker malt with pepper notes and earthy, woody yeast characteristics. Flavor is moderate tropical hops of mango and passion fruit, medium-high bitterness that plays well with the spices and accentuates the dryness, light crisp malt, earthy yeast and a dry finish. Medium-light body and moderate carbonation.

Bottle courtesy of Falco242. Aroma includes brett mixed with hops and hints of spice and citrus. Hazy, murky orange with a frothy white head and nice lace. Dry initial mouthfeel with a fully evervescent mouthfeel and a Belgian aspect. Hops are there but this is anything but an American IPA. Points for uniqueness. Unique and enjoyable; could be a little sweeter.

Another solid "Krunkles" Side Project offering from Terrapin. Orange-like with a booming off-white head. Lots of scattered lacing sticks to the sides of the glass like cobwebs. The aroma shows a lot of herbal character to it. There’s orange blossom, tropical fruit, cotton candy, grassy, and yeast all present as well. The flavors are a bit sweet upfront with cotton candy and tropical fruit notes before drying out mid palate and into the finish. Spices and orange rind provide a contrast to the sweeter character with some firm hoppy bitterness in the finish. Grassy notes mix in with an overall very mild yeasty funk to it. It certainly comes across as a Belgian IPA and a beer that I found plenty enjoyable, but not outstanding.
