The legendary hop-hunter Krunkles turns up yet again, back from a tour of the Orient. His goal this time is to get experimental; his unbounded travels have earned him an honorary doctorate (“Doctor of what?”, you may ask. This would be a question to which only Krunkles knows the answer…) and he’s sequestered himself in the lab perfecting a never-before-seen formula for his beloved IPA. Dr. Krunkles White Farmhouse IPA reaches new heights in complexity and flavor by combining the malt and spices of a Belgian Witbier, the yeast of a Farmhouse Ale, and the hoppy goodness of an American IPA. Dr. Krunkle’s twisted touch is a dash of white peppercorn followed by wood aging on white ash.

Brilliant golden colored pour. Steady stream of bubbles continually rise to the big, puffy white head. Plenty of lace left behind. Smell is a typical wit; spice, malt, yeast. Some notes of lemon and grains of paradise really stand out. A slight peppery note that reminds me of barrels. Taste is a very hoppy front followed up by spice and wood. The pepper notes return on the tongue in the finish. Interesting beer and not too shabby.

Bottle. Pours golden with small white head. Aroma is spicy, almost a bit fruity, not much hop presence. Taste is some Belgium fruitiness, again not much hops. This one is a bit interesting. Aftertaste is clean, refreshing.

Bomber. Pours a hazy apple juice color with a thick foamy white head. Tons of lacing. Aroma of Belgian yeast, a bit of pepper, citrus, and some tropical fruit. Taste is much like the nose. Very fruity, Belgian yeast, citrus, and a peppery spice on the finish. Very light and refreshing. Could drink this all day long. Another great Side Project!

Bottle. Very interesting. Big peach/rind notes in the taste slightly overpowering the hops. Definitely worth a shot.

Bottle to glass. Deep golden orange color with a fizzy white head. Aroma is mostly piney citrusy hops, but the belgian yeast and spices definitely shine through. Flavor is a spicy hop belgian yeast. Lighter in body with the yeast notes lingering in the finish. Not too shabby.

Pours a translucent golden orange on tap with a thin ring of off-white head that leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is Belgian yeast, peppery esters, a slight hop presence. Taste follows, with slight bitterness on the back end. Solid Belgian IPA.

22oz bomber from Spirits Crossroads. Poured a clear dirty gold body with a large bubbly light white head. Aroma is solid, very tropical with lots of Belgian yeast. Notes of lime, yesst, dusty breads, tropical fruits, kiwi rind, lemons and a hint of vanilla. Medium bodied with average to slightly light carbonation and an average duration on the finish. Flavor is yeast, tropical fruits, limes, crusts, touch of medicine. Good stuff here.
