Bottle shared at the Great British Beer Festival 2014, Day 1 - London. Pours rich brown with a creamy, tan head. Very nice, dynamic, with chili pepper in the nose and then following well in the flavor, nice spice balance, chocolate, moderate roast, cinnamon. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Refreshing chili kick in the finish with rounded roasted malts, chocolate, light spicy throat burn. Assertive spiciness but it’s not over the top. Great stuff.

Draft at shamrock. Deep brown creamy tan head that lingers. Spicy green pepper a bit of chocolate. Very spicy chocolate with a hot spicy aftertaste. Nice lacing. Company led beer with a lot of flavor. If you don’t like spicy don’t drink this beer.

Dark brown pour. Nose is heavy in chocolate and caramel. The taste is pretty bitter and chocolatey upfront, but the chili heat definitely finishes. Some vanilla presence too. Decently rich body. Good stuff.

Appearance: thin black-brown. Medium white head. Aroma: all pepper. Taste: pepper and some cocoa and coffee. Like a spicy mole sauce. Feel: a little thin. Nice beer. Something is missing, but I am enjoying the spiciness on a cold windy day at the shore.

Poured from a bottle. Smells like a brownie! First sip is very chocolatey and a slight chili taste develops after. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle: Thanks, Kevin. Ruddy, ruby color, brown-ish & topped with a khaki colored foam that quickly recedes to a collar. Aroma of... chilies! Lots of chili pepper. Some light caramel malt, cocoa dust, & roast underneath, but the chilies certainly outshine everything else. Taste is full of chilies as well... Actually tastes like green pepper just a bit. Savory green peppers, lingering ashy spice that tingles the back of the throat just a bit. Mild caramel, cocoa powder, & some toasted nuttiness. Again, though, the peppers steal the show from start to finish. Light bodied... A decent beer, although it lacks complexity.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate caramel, light fruit, faint chili peppers, and a touch of chocolate. It pours transparent dark copper with a one finger beige head that quickly fades to a thin film. The flavor starts with moderate caramel with a touch of chocolate. The finish has light chili peppers heat with some faint roasted nuts. It’s medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation.

Draft at Snallygaster 2014. Poured a dark brown, almost black color with a medium sized tan head. Aroma was light chocolate notes, with some spicy notes. Vanilla notes, some light fruit notes, earthy notes. Flavor was vanilla, sweet chocolate. Warming heat notes on the finish. Interesting.

9/14/14. 22oz bottle from Five Points. Dark brown pour with a nice brown head that cuts in half but lasts and laces really well. Okay aroma, the chocolate jumps out to me first, a decent mix of sweet and bitter, then the pepper hits me - reminds me of chipotle peppers, which is sort of weird for me. Smokey and sweet in a way. The flavor pops with chocolate again, and then hits me again with something that reminds of chipotle peppers instead of straight heat. The spice is definitely there, lingers on the tongue. Would benefit from more body and a vanilla kick to round out the brownie idea. Not bad.

Shared bomber poured to snifters, showing a dark brown/mahogany color, with a modest layer of tan, bubbly head foam, and spotty lacing. The aroma was spice & green pepper, with kind of a Mexican pepper & chocolate/mole sauce nose. Peppery, with moderate bitterness & heat, the body was medium, carbonation was decent, a touch of sweetness lingered on the tongue, and the finish was pleasantly warming.
