COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
2008 will forever be known in professional brewing circles as the year of the Hop Shortage. Brewers everywhere are scrambling to find hops just to produce their standard line of beers. Some are so nervous they are even cutting back on brewing hoppy beers. NOT US! In typical Terrapin fashion we are going against the grain (or against the hops, so the speak). If there is going to be a shortage of hops, why not put them all into one huge hop bomb of a beer? We hope you enjoy our HOP SHORTAGE ALE.

Awesome brew... nice strong hop flavor with enough malt to balance it out. Light orangeish red color, cloudy, and nice lacing

Pours dark and cloudy amber/orange color with a 1.5 finger frothy white head that slowly settles into a thin ring. Streaks of lacing left behind. Smells more like a barleywine with some boozy sweetness and strong malt profile balancing out the citrus and piney hop notes. Medium bodied with a good balance of sweet and bitter hops followed by a decent malt backbone and dry boozy finish. Hints of orange peel and dry pine needle countered by bicuit and caramel. Malt backbone provides balances without interfering with bitterness. Well balanced and quaffable but nothing out of the ordinary.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, fruit, and dusty hops.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of sincereNC. Pours a cloudy and almost opaque amber with an off-white head. The nose has a little citrusy hops and an oxidized caramel touch. Medium body, sweet fruitiness, caramel and licorice allsorts. Clearly the hops have oxidized by now. The finish is not all that bitter. 230211

A: imperial pint glass. Orange-ish golden color. nice white head with a good retention level. moderate lacing. S: nice floral and citrus hop aroma. some good caramel malts are in the nose as well. The hop aroma is very sweet. T: nice bitter hops from start to finish, followed by a smooth and solid crystal malt background. some citrus and earthy flavors from the hops but not very potent. tastes like a lighter version of the RyePA. M: a little thin for my expectations. good carbonation, smooth and crisp. almost like a good macro run through a randal. D: very good, but I expected so much more with all the hype behind this beer. its good but I was a little disappointed.
