bottle. near black with a very small tan head. roasty, charred peanut shells nose. flavor combines a mildly sweet, roasty porter with a light note of unsweetened peanut butter nuttiness with shells. nutter butter cookies without sugar. medium to full body. nice porter with hearty handful of peanuts. i think a little more residual sugar would let the peanut flavors really shine.

Served in a snifter. Pours an opaque dark brown-near black with practically no head. Some lacing but minimal retention. Aroma is distinctly of peanuts, with milk chocolate and just a hint of alcohol in the background. Overall, the beer smells sweet, but peanuts, not peanut butter, drive the aroma. Taste more or less carries through the aroma, albeit more restrained. Slightly sweet due to roasted chocolate malts, followed by peanut. In sum, a beer that delivers peanut and chocolate in the aroma and taste but fails to deliver the Reese’s peanut butter cup experience. Essentially, one is left with an excellent porter that integrates peanuts--again, not peanut butter--very well and adds to the depth of the beer. Worth a try.

Bottle. Pours almost black with a tiny brown head. Light roast aroma with peanuts and chocolate. Slightly sweet, lightly roasty flavor with a great combo of peanuts and chocolate. More pronounced peanut notes in the finish. A great tasting porter.

Bomber courtesy of CraftBeerDesign (thanks Geoff!) poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aroma of peanut butter, dark chocolate and light roastiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of peanut butter, dark chocolate and light carmel with a smooth lingering chocolate/peanut butter finish.

Black pour with peanut butter colored head. Aroma of chocolate and peanut butter. Slightly nutty and grain aroma. light body thin mouth feel with peanut butter and chocolate malts. This beer has a unique flavor and good while still being very sessionable.

Quick-take review on this one. Pours opaque, ultra-dark brown with a substaintial tan head. The aroma is subtle, but roasted peanuts are clearly evident. On the palate, you’re first hit with mild chocolate and roastiness and it’s only on the finish that you taste the peanut butter. It sounded sort of gross when I first heard of it, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The aroma of this beer is definitely the best part. It smells of peanut butter and chocolate. Slight bitter taste. The palate is too thin to be really good.

Pint pour of healthy darkness with nice full khaki head. Nose opens to rich chocolate and healthy peanut but starts all chocolate with no peanuts. Flavor is the same and opens nicely, followed by nice roasted malts as well. Turned out to be quite drinkable. Better on draft than bottle.

Dark, creamy head. There’s a lot of cocoa. Creaminess and sweetness makes me wonder if Kickbacks is cutting their beer with chocolate milk this morning.
