UPDATED: AUG 14, 2014 Sweet chocolate, soil, and beets on the nose, I swear. Black, medium tan head with little retention. Mild tobacco flavor. Chocolate and peanut flavor is detectable but wouldn’t be if I hadn’t expected it to be there. Strong bittersweet chocolate and cocoa finish. Alcohol not evident, thin body. More chocolatey than billed, but that is a good thing.

Bottle. Dark and opaque, what little air is embedded in it delivers not much more than a little swirl on top. The aroma is sweet and chocolate-laden, hinting at a rich one. Indeed, this drinks with a full-on cocoa front, followed by a sweet creaminess that must be a product of the peanut butter. Well done. (#4985, 4/15/2013)

12 ounce bottle. Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of peanut butter, chocolate, and malt. Taste is peanut butter, sweet chocolate, roasted malt, and caramel. A pleasant surprise. Very good!

Brownish-black pour with a medium tan head that dissipates slowly. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of chocolate, malt and peanut butter. Medium-bodied with flavors of milk chocolate, peanut butter and roast malt. The finish is peanut butter cup and malt. Comparable to Willoughby’s, tasty and enjoyable.

Deep brown, light brown head. Flavors are all chocolate with a light hint of peanuts. Very oily and slick mouthfeel. A bit overdone on the chocolate but that’s ok by me!

Fun beer that reminds me of a reeses peanut butter cup. Peanuts and chocolate are big with a little roastyness and a sweet finish. I like my 4 oz pour of this one but idk how i would handle a big pour.

12oz bottle from Crissroads Spirits. Pours black with a thick frothy mocha colored head. Aroma of roasted peanuts, chocolate, and dark roasted malts. Taste mimics the nose. Roasted peanuts, sweet chocolate, dark malts, burnt toast, and hints of vanilla.

12 ounce bottle - $1.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a clear, very dark brown body with a few glimmers of ruby when it catches the light. Modestly-sized, light beige head.

Smell: Dark maltiness, hints of sweetish chocolate, caramel and gentle roast mingled with the butter whats made of peanuts. Thin sliver of dark fruitiness.

Taste: Chocolate laced dark malts with the growing peanut butter flavor surrounding it like a German death squad. Hints of black olive, dark fruit. Rise of blonde caramel. Minimal hop character and bitterness. Semi-dry finish, soft in feel, with lingering flavors of peanuts.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Agreeably sleek mouthfeel.

Overall: Better than anticipated! Admittedly, while I don’t have any particular beef with p-butter, I’ve never really reveled in it. As a kid, I ducked PBJ sandwiches and would readily trade away Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups come Halloween.

Out of the bottle at the Porter Pub in Atlanta -- Very interesting for sure. Drinks like a peanut butter dessert drink. Very good at first. It wears on you slightly as it continues. This would be a great beer to share in small to medium quantities with friends. A beer that makes you wonder how they crafted it, for sure. A pleasant oddity. I would still like to drink it again.

I haven’t been drinking too much lately, but I have been looking forward to trying this one for a while now. Decided to go ahead and pick up a sixer while I was out grocery shopping today. Pours a dark cola brown with a thin off-white head that fizzes away rather quickly. There is no denying the presence of peanut butter in the aroma. It’s like sticking your nose in a jar of jiff. There is a layer of milk chocolate present in there as well. It kind of smells like Reese’s Peanut butter cereal. I love peanut butter though so there is nothing wrong with that. Flavor is a bit more complex than the aroma. The peanut butter and chocolate are still present but are balanced by some nice black coffee like bitterness, and a nice toasted malt presence. It’s quite delicious. I would actually be okay with a bit more peanut butter flavor. The palate is a bit prickly but goes down smooth. Nicely carbonated for a porter. Overall a very enjoyable beer. Glad to see this one sitting on the shelf in six packs now.
