COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Volume 5: This new age beer style is a fusion of two great brewing traditions that are worlds apart - a hoppy American Double IPA and a classic Belgian Tripel. Beware the Gnome in the funny green hat!

Great beer. I like how it starts like a Belgian and finishes like a IPA. This dry bitterness of the finish is great.

2012 Vintage.
Appearance: The body is crystal clear with a light amber hue, great color, but the head is very short on the pour and has poor retention.
Aroma: The aroma has fruity medicinal esters, reminding me of cherry syrup, with sweet malts and citrus hops.
Taste: This is an odd marriage of oranges and grapefruit, providing slight bitterness, with medicinal esters and sweet malts. Very odd, but enjoyable.
Palate: Medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall: I like this beer more than the ratings indicate, but that’s only because I’m a sucker for the medicinal esters. This is an average beer at best and could easily be solved through some minor changes. Heck just a better head would have given this a higher rating!

12 oz bottle, courtesy of jcwattsrugger. Pours clear amber/orange with a 1/2" off white head. Not much retention and no lace. Aroma is a marriage of Belgian yeast and juicy citrus hops. Sweet flavor with lots of candied fruit balanced with a hint of funk. Medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Quite nice.

Very malty fruity aroma. Very light pretty non cloudy appearance. Very floral upfront with spice. A very spicy hoppy Lasting finish. Maybe too much going on but very unique

12oz 2010 vintage I got to try this recently thanks to a friend and it was interesting. Not quite spicy or funky but definitely belgian. It was orange and had a smell of hops but also something I could not lay my finger on. The taste was the same way. It was neither belgian, belgian-style, IPA, or DIPA, it was weird. It was however good as I find most Terrapin beers to be solid. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 08-14-2010 05:38:06

Bottle, vintage 2012. Dusty caramel in the nose with a lot of grapefruit and citrus, touch of astringency/rubber and nice tripel notes around the side, lightly floral and yeasty in the golden finish. Pours dark golden with lots of carbonation and a soapy beige head that reminds of root beer floats. Taste is sweet with big tripel up front, yeasty-malty (pils) with strong booze that kicks with a boot and warms the chest, hops are somewhat subordinate. Not oily but there are some punishing alcohol fumes, thinner light-medium body. Appreciate all forms of Frankensteinsche Monsters; this one just doesn’t work. Think I’d like the underlying tripel, though, and not the double IPA.

Bottle shared by Dogbrick at Septoberfest V: Septoberfest Rises on 9/29/12. Pours clear gold with a thick off-white head. Aroma of malt, grassy hops and Belgian yeast. Malty and citrusy flavor with slight esters before a sweet finish.
