COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Volume 22. Sometimes things get a little weird when there’s a full moon. Floating into "Side Project 22" comes "Moonray" Chocolate Orange Weizenbock. Our rendition of this traditional style is clearly a hoax with the addition of cocoa nibs and orange peel for a greater depth of flavor. With its big malt presence and hint of banana from the yeast, this beer may just make you hotel at the moon.

Bottle shared at Crooked Stave by some chill bro. Thanks man! Pour is deep brown, almost black with a small tan head head and good lacing. Tangy, caramelly, light cocoa, orange peel, light spice, and toffee in the aroma. Taste is rich chocolate dipped orange marmalade, dark fruits, somewhat tangy, grapey, and roasty with a rich finish. Full mouthfeel with medium carbonation. I wouldn’t call this a weizen bock by any means, but a decent beer nonetheless.

Bomber from Beer Run, opened 5/28/14. Pours a dark red-brown color with a large foamy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of chocolate, pineapple, citrus, wheat, spice. The taste is yeast, cocoa, citrus, banana, pineapple. Medium bodied, low carbonation, slight lingering tartness.

22 ounce thank to Brian. Chocolate and orange throughout. Murky color. Some tangy taste as well. Not sure about this one.

Bottle from recent trade. Copper pour, very small head . Aroma is pretty good. Cocoa, oranges, caramel, bananas, and dark bread. Tastes good but a little watery. Chocolate covered oranges, wheat, bananas, caramel, and rum. I enjoyed this more than I expected to.

4 oz draft pour at ChurchKey. Dark brown with off-white head. Aromas of chocolate, orange, caramel, vanilla. Tastes of caramel, chocolate, orange, vanilla, cream. Medium body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation. Enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. Like a chocolate covered orange drenched in caramel.

22oz bottle via trade pours a garnet amber with some lacing, sudsy white head. Nose has plenty of standard weizenbock character, clove, lightly charred wheat, bubblegum, some earthy cocoa nib is lurking, some brown sugar, a little carrot cake. Flavor is a little messy, bananas foster, a little rum, some cane sugar, some rum raisin ice cream, clove. Heavy carb and a little herbal character makes for a harsh finish.

Not a huge fan of this one. Pours a deep orange - brown with a tan head that disappeared quickly. Aroma is chocolate and wheat. Decent body and fairly smooth, finish is a bit bitter / astringent.
