COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Volume 22. Sometimes things get a little weird when there’s a full moon. Floating into "Side Project 22" comes "Moonray" Chocolate Orange Weizenbock. Our rendition of this traditional style is clearly a hoax with the addition of cocoa nibs and orange peel for a greater depth of flavor. With its big malt presence and hint of banana from the yeast, this beer may just make you hotel at the moon.

4 oz draft pour at ChurchKey. Dark brown with off-white head. Aromas of chocolate, orange, caramel, vanilla. Tastes of caramel, chocolate, orange, vanilla, cream. Medium body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation. Enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. Like a chocolate covered orange drenched in caramel.

22oz bottle via trade pours a garnet amber with some lacing, sudsy white head. Nose has plenty of standard weizenbock character, clove, lightly charred wheat, bubblegum, some earthy cocoa nib is lurking, some brown sugar, a little carrot cake. Flavor is a little messy, bananas foster, a little rum, some cane sugar, some rum raisin ice cream, clove. Heavy carb and a little herbal character makes for a harsh finish.

Not a huge fan of this one. Pours a deep orange - brown with a tan head that disappeared quickly. Aroma is chocolate and wheat. Decent body and fairly smooth, finish is a bit bitter / astringent.

Brown, caramel head. Smells like chocolate, coffee, and a whiff of orange peel. Taste is mostly chocolate, but also some coffee and just a subtle note of orange. Also, s get just a touch of sea water. Not bad at all...

Deep brown body with a sandy tan head. Interesting aroma. Sort of a spice brown bread. Nutty some banana. Lightly sweet and spicy. The orange comes as an after flavor or in a burp! Nice beer.

Vol. 22, vintage2014. 22 oz bottle. Hazy brown color. Smells of fresh oranges, along with a layer of milk chocolate. Tastes of salted burnt caramels, fresh picked orange, chocolate malt. Nice layers. (4122)

Dark brown, almost black with an off white head. Aroma is orange with a bit of chocolate. Very heavy citrus. Didn’t is a bit muddled. Citrus is fairly predominant with some chocolate notes. A bit sharp. Interesting, but not entirely successful. Wife: 3.6

Bottle @ RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting. What a ridiculous beer. Copper colored pour with an off-white head. Smells like a chocolate covered orange candy. Spicy clove, some maple, and cola. Lots of orange zest. Flavor is fairly sweet and heavy on the cola. Mild banana, some gingerbread, molasses, and lots of cocoa. Kind of a fake orange character.

Sampled at the RBSG 2014. It poured a brown color with an off-white head. The aroma was fruity with some orange zest and a touch of cocoa. The taste was of citrus, cocoa, banana and a slightly tart finish. Nice.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 7/11/14

Aroma: It has a sweet aroma of chocolate, orange, and wheat, unsurprisingly
Appearance: It pours a light brownish color with a small off-white and some light lace
Flavor: The taste is fairly sweet as well, definitely a dessert beer, chocolate and fruit dominate
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has decent mouthfeel, and some average carbonation
Overall Impression: This is interesting and pretty tasty. A little too sweet for me to want more than a glass, but still something I’m happy to have tried.
