COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pulling into Terrapin Beer Coís station is Pineapple Express, the winner of our first annual Employee Homebrew Challenge. Inspired by a late night grilling session with friends, a couple of chunks of pineapple got thrown into the mix, and an idea for a new beer style was born. The team brewed up a Helles lager for the base brew and used real pineapple and smoked malt to concoct the winning recipe.

Hazy yellow with a thin white head. Aroma is big smoke with a bit of charred meat. Very reminiscent of the grill. Flavor is a nice amount of smoke with a bit of sweetness underneath. Charcoal aftertaste with a surprisingly clean and crisp finish. Wife: 3.9

Hazy straw colored pour. Small white head. Some lacing. Malt and yeast in the nose. Fruity taste with some malt. Not much pineapple and no smoke.

Appearance: Pours a hazy bright yellow gold with a white head that subsides to a frothy thin cap.

Aroma: Smoky malt, banana, pineapple. Very Belgian wit like.

Taste: Pilsner/Pale German malt pop, nice earthy spicy Eurohops, a little fruit twang in the end with some wood smoke notes in the finish. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, average carbonation.

Overall: Drinkable, balanced, but didnít knock my socks off. I didnít get much pineapple, appreciative of the smoked malt. Fun to try.

Pours a nice gold color with a decent white head. Odd nose with a bit of pale malt and pineapple. Didnít get any smoke. No smoke flavor wise either. Plenty of pineapple though. A bit of bready malt too, but not much else. Finishes fairly clean. Eh.

Bomber from State Line. Poured turbid gold with white head. Nose was bready pale malt, mild hops and pineapple. Tasted a bit of a mishmash, with bready pale malt, some pineapple, and mild rauch, and although it was original as hell, it didnít quite come together.

22oz bottle. Medium white head atop hazy light amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, smoked wood, some pineapple. Taste is moderately sweet, bread, some pineapple, light wood smoke. Low carbonation, light-medium body.

Cloudy yellow with a thin white head. Light malt aroma. No smoke or pineapple was noted. The flavor is fruity and mildly sweet, but again no sign of the smoke or the pineapple.

22 oz. bottle. A hazy amber pour with a big beige head. The subtle aroma features some candied grapefruit, caramel, candi sugar, some juicy citrus, and just the slightest hint of smoke. Goes down relatively medium-bodied. Sweet upfront taste-wise with quite a bit of candi sugar and artificial orange juice. Tangy oranges, grapefruits, zesty citrus rinds, and a hint of smoke finish things off. Not a whole lot going on here. This was a big let-down.

Stinks - stale smoke/cereal aroma. Bomber, bad label, dull straw-colored beer, white head. Rauch-y tasting, mineral, dry, stale cereal, decent bittering. I didnít get any pineapple out of this at all. Frothy mouthfeel, pleasant carbonation. Cigarette finish. Not really sure what the point to this was. ABC, Betton.

FROTHINGSLOSH (4909) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 8, 2014
Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy yellow-apricot color with a large fluffy yellow-white head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was hickory, bacon, wood and not much else though pleasant in nature. The flavor was woody and smoky with a bit of bacon and charcoal. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.

Bomber from Bruisiní. Pours golden with a white head. I was a little unsure about how the pineapple was coming across, but it really grew on me. The smoke is meaty and comes across nicely, really carries into the flavor well. This gets smoother and more drinkable as it goes along. The smoke is consistent and well done. I could use more, but it isnít underwhelming by any means. Juicy, balanced drinker. Like it.
