3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Out of the recent Side Projects, I think this one was the closest to a success, with very interesting notes of tea, subtle hints of ginger, and a good amount of hoppiness to remind you that, yes, you’re drinking a beer. Creative, while not sacrificing style standbys.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz bottle, purchased for $8 from Total Wine. Poured into a snifter. Awesome noticeably ginger aroma, and green tea. It’s like an Arizona Tea concoction with alcohol and floral hops featured. Lower carbonation, above average body. Texture is more right on for a double IPA. Good herbal mildly soapy hop aroma. Complex, light bitter, with some zest. Amber/orange color made hazy by lots of particles suspended in the body. Very creative take on an IPA. Reminds me of a mango IPA from Cigar City. Smooth and balanced. Excellent, interesting brew. Would love to revisit.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber from Capone’s. Pours turbid orange with 1-finger clingy off-white head. Nose is sesame oily resiny hops, ginger, floral spice, tropical citrus fruit, and pale ricey malt. Tastes dry, bitter, tannic, with resiny hops, pine, sorachi hops, and a high IBU level with hops that never let up and a definite Asian flair. This one would be perfect with won ton soup and extra spicy hunan pork.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
What a surprise to me, I do not ordinarily like beers with tea and other things in them but this one was way good. I liked how it looked and poured and really how it tasted. As it warmed up a bit I did notice a bit of a bitter finish, but it was within tolerance. I’m glad it is only 7% allowing me to drink in at one setting. A good beer to be sure.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
This poured a hazy light orange color with a beige head. Aroma was of green tea, ginger, some other spices and light citrus hops. Flavor was much the same, strange and tea like with medium bitterness. Just not my thing.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a slightly hazy golden orange with a small, dissipating off-white head and light lacing. Aroma of pale malts, sweet tea, floral hops, with slight earthy and citrus notes. Taste follows, with an overlying sweet bread flavor accented by the green tea and jasmine, hops die off. No real bitterness that I have come to expect in an IPA, and just a medium body and soft mouth. Very odd for an IPA, and not something I really feel the desire to come back to.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz bottle courtesy of Argo0. Pours to a darkish straw colored body with a small white head that quickly fades. Aroma is sweet honey, sweet fruity hops, jasmine, and a very light apple scent. Taste is initially sweet with honey and some light fruit, then transitions to the jasmine and green tea flavors with a sweet malt syrup underneath. Finishes with some mild extended jasmine and green tea notes. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, overall interesting yet doesn’t blow my socks off.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 ounce bottle - $7.99 at Bullock’s Wine & Spirits in Marietta, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a clouded, faded golden-orange body with a small-sized, brief, off-white head. Head dies off rather rapidly, though there remains little slivers of lace on the descent.
Smell: The malts remain modest in aroma, just some pale malted graininess, serving to send up the varied hop notes, some citric citrus fruit rinds, pointed florals, and vague, encompassing earthiness. Light hints of the green tea, rice, and ginger -- I’m surprised I’m noting the green tea as well as I am and also surprised it’s far less gingery than anticipated.
Taste: Pale malts, faintly bready and with a bit of cooked sugar for a small amount of short-lived sweetness. Floral, brightly citrusy hops along with the green tea. Very low hint of jasmine rice. Florals, earthiness, citrus, green tea, and a meager sprinkling of ginger swirl around with the hop bitterness until the drying, soft finish with a linger earthy, spicy, bitter quality in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium body. Medium carbonation. Soft mouthfeel.
Overall: An India Pale Ale with some interesting additives. A little ginger goes a long way for me, so I’m glad it remains fairly subtle.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is sweet malts, floral, herbal tea and light citrus. The flavor has moderately sweet caramel, light toast, floral, herbal tea and light citrus. This is an interesting spin, but not my favorite from these guys.
