COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Taking the Orient and the rest of the world by storm, Krunkles returns! In this edition of the bearded IPA brewer’s saga, “Samurai Krunkles,” as he was once known in the Far East, pulls out all the hops from his katana’s sheath to make this Asian flared brew. While traveling around the Pacific in a souped up rickshaw pulled by his trusty side kick Cato, Krunkles uncovered unique brewing ingredients such as jasmine rice, jasmine green tea and the finest ginger the Orient had to offer for this Samurai master’s ale. 8/19/12. 22oz bottle from Grassroots. Hazy orange pour with a small khaki head that fades fast and barely laces. Surprisingly mild aroma with some citrus, biscuits, bread, caramel, and basically none of the listed ingredients. Slightly bolder flavor with definite tea along with caramel, biscuits, bread, and a bit of citrus. I was really hoping for more ginger and some of the other aspects. Another average entry from Terrapin.

Pours a slightly cloudy tangerine orange. Somewhat complex hop aroma- juicy citrus. The nose conceals unique flavor. Dominant floral notes from the tea, subtle ginger spice, medium body and just off-dry. Would like to have seen more crossover between the hoppy aroma and the adjunct body, but not bad.

Bottle shared at Natifest 12. Poured dark amber color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy earthy hop and herbal aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This a very good brew.

Didn’t do it for me. Too much ginger and not enough hops. Seemed like the palate was muddled and didn’t quite hit what they were going for. Or I didn’t like what they were going for. Either way, a miss for me.

Pours an amber orange with no appreciable head. Nose is definitely green tea and pleasant. Taste is herbal as well with tea leaves, some citrus and some bitterness. Finish is bitter with the same flavors and moderately lasting. Quite IMAGINATIVE brew. Quaff 7 / 10

Pours a golden amber with a dissipating white head and herbal aroma. Taste is herbal as well, tastes of ginger, hops, faint green tea notes, and spices with a medium finish where the herbal flavors come through. Unique IPA with the flavors presented.

Draft at World of Beer Land O Lakes. Pours a mostly clear golden orange color with a foamed white head. Aroma has a lot or floral hop notes with noticeable ginger. The flavor is quite unique for and IPA with an interesting mix of ginger and spices and hoppiness in the finish. Can’t say that I can pick out the jasmine rice, but tasty nonetheless.

Rose petal perfume on the nose, mango, ginger and lemon zest underneath. The aroma is deja vu inducingly familiar. I swear there is a ladies’ perfume that smells like this. Cloudy amber, headless. Overipe orange, leafy green flavor, rose petal accents. Perfumey and slightly resinous.Mild apricot finish. Wow, this is a very unusual beer. The green tea addition probably is what causes the stir, but it isn’t easily identifiable. Elegant and delicious.
