COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Taking the Orient and the rest of the world by storm, Krunkles returns! In this edition of the bearded IPA brewer’s saga, “Samurai Krunkles,” as he was once known in the Far East, pulls out all the hops from his katana’s sheath to make this Asian flared brew. While traveling around the Pacific in a souped up rickshaw pulled by his trusty side kick Cato, Krunkles uncovered unique brewing ingredients such as jasmine rice, jasmine green tea and the finest ginger the Orient had to offer for this Samurai master’s ale. 22oz bottle-pours gold with an offwhite head. Aroma is yeast, herbal/citrus, light malt/wheat. Taste is yeast, herbal/peach hops, light malt/wheat (rice).

Location/Date:Bottle split with Dave on August 8th, 2012.

Appearance: Pours an orange cloud.
Aroma: Aroma of ginger and faint green tea, no IPA characteristics.
Taste: Ginger, green tea, very faint bitterness
Palate:Light body, short-medium finish, covers alcohol well.

Summary: This beer isn’t bad, but it’s description as falling into an IPA doesn’t really fit what I tasted - unlike the Stone Collaboration IPA with Green Tea. What is here is solid but the name provides an expectation of something else, even with the green tea/ginger ingredient add ons.

Bomber from Beer Run. Pours a slight hazy golden color with a thin frothy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of herbal hops, rice, nutty notes and crackery, bready malts. The taste is herbal hops, other herbal notes, tea, rice, citrus, apple, plum. Medium bodied, slight lingering bitterness, average carbonation, refreshing. Nice beer,

12 oz draft pours a hazy orange color with a medium white head. Aromas of ginger, green tea and light hops. Medium bodies, flavors are a little weird, not sure what to think of it.

Side Project 17:: 22oz bottle, foil wrapped. Pours golden amber color, white head. Malt aroma, hints of pressed ginger as it warms. Flavors of sweet rice pudding and loads of sencha, with a mild hop bitterness. The bitterness of the sencha tea mellows out the sweetness of the beer over the bitterness of any hops. Finishes with a bit of ginger bite tingle and a far away flavor of tobacco (more from the green tea.) I really think there should be more beer with tea as a flavor component. This beer is a perfect example. (3418)

Bomber to taster at Natifest. Looks fine. Smells and taste sweet, gingery, and hoppy with an average mouthfeel. Not bad.

On draft at Tryst. Was excited to try this since I generally like most Terrapin beers. This was overall very hoppy and earthy. It was like most IPA’s I’ve had recently. Good but not great.

Love the experimentation from Terraping, but this was was not a homerun like Indiana Krunkles was for me. Poured an amber with nice fluffy white head. Smell is floral, light citrus and touches of sweet honey. Taste was light and effervesant, but certainly a strange mix. Mild citrus hops, ginger, green tea, some earthiness, hints of soap, jasmine. The green tea lingering and I believe the ginger sting and the Sorachi Ace poking thru are the highlights. Overall, worth the try for something completely different and in the end pretty refreshing.

22oz bottle ---> snifter. Pours a pretty, deep orange with very little head. Smell is bubblegum with a tiny bit of florals. Heavy green tea taste with very mild hop on the back end. Palate is pretty watery with a tongue burn which I suspect is the ginger. One thing I will say is that you could probably pound these things, they are that mild. Another swing and miss by Terrapin.

Subtle flavors and aromas. Clear golden color. Some honey and floral aromas. Flavor has a lot of honey and a decent sweetness. Herbal floral hop flavors with a bit of spice on the finish. Not a typical ipa but an entertaining drink nonetheless
