3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted on 1/22/14 from a gold foiled than capped 22oz bomber bottle sent to me as an extra in a trade a very long time ago. Pours completely opaque, nearly black with an average brown head that recedes pretty quickly to very thin lace. The nose is really dominated by dark chocolate syrup with a touch of the Belgian yeast still active, showing some oxidation, but still alive. The flavor is the dark chocolate syrup up front with that same lightly spicy yeast character. The body is medium with just over medium carbonation and a long dark chocolate syrup finish. Overall, this beer is holding up shockingly well for being as old as it is.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a thick black from the bottle with thin lacy tan brown head that leaves moderate lace. Aroma is big on the candied sugar and dark fruit esters at this point, with a hint of vanilla and roast. Taste follows, citrus sweetness on the back end, no teal bitterness or sense of the booze. Held up pretty well.

8/07/2010: Terrapin Side Project Volume #9 - The Dark Side (Belgian Style Imperial Stout)... Aroma: Milk chocolate, orangy hops, mild licorice. Appearance: Near black and opaque; minimal carbonation. Flavor: Good flavors of semi-sweet chocolate, notes of vanilla, licorice, molasses; heavily roasted malts with just the right amount of residual sweetness; a bit of alcohol though nose. Palate: Rich and smooth. Overall: The aroma doesn’t reveal much, but the flavor is loaded!

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Retired like a boss. Really sweet and candy sugar like with some fruity yeasty undertones. A little bit of soy and metal in there but all in all it aint bad.

Bomber, sweet and needs time to open up, as expected cause of its age. Sweetish and malty

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black pour with a tan head. The aroma is full of roasted malt with some licorice and yeast notes. The flavor is similar. I get some heavy chocolate and roasted malt, which is complimented by some yeast and licorice. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Another nice side project beer from Terrapin.

The smell is malts, chocolate, roast, cocoa, and malts. The look is dark, brown in color, and has a beige colored head. The taste is malty, roast, cocoa, chocolate, and good.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Interesting beer...a Belgian Style Imperial stout and it was! Dark colored with a brown head. The aroma was strong Belgian (banana, yeast, a little bit of raisin). The taste surprised adding more roasted flavor and some chocolate presence. Interesting dark fruit and cherry tartness in there as well. Creamy mouthfeel. Interesting beer, though not the best I’ve ever had, worth it if you get a shot.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared all the way back at Ye Olde EBF 2010 hotel room tasting. Light sweet chocolate notes, some belgian esters, but most notable a fruity character that is in fact reminiscent of an export stout rather than the Imperial Stout this should probably be listed under.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared at Woodshop 7. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Fruity and sweet with plum/raisin/date/prune. Cocoa and chocolate with very little roast. Very Belgian and estery.
