3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
"The amarillo deScription is for the batch that was made when this beer was entered. The recipe stays the same but the hop used changes every year. Much to my liking, this year’s (2012) was citra. Freshest beer I’ve ever had from GA (buddy grabbed it still in the box a week ago). Really nice aroma a blast of citrus, orange and tropical fruit galore, Flavor much the same...understated, but full and lively, slightly dank. Mellow ipa, but I really dug the freshness and aproach to this brew. "

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz. bottle, sent from mwgroove23 (thanks Mike), pours a hazy dark-ish orange with a small beige head. Aroma of tropical fruits, especially mangos, butterscotch, and some caramel malt. Flavour tastes very fresh, with notes of mangos, citrusy hops and some butterscotch. Given that it was likely bottled in October or November 2012, it has held up alright, but not optimal. Good stuff.

Really incredible IPA. The name does not lie. One of the freshest beers I’ve ever tasted. Big, clean dry-hopped flavor.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottled. Ah yes, what is it about fresh Citra that just slays me so? Pours amber with a solid head. Fresh dank earth littered with apricots fill the aroma. Yes, a bit sweet for me for an IPA, but so darn drinkable and finishes with both grapefruit and chewing on a fresh pine needle bitterness.

Lightly hazed orange pour with creamy white head and lace. Aroma is citrus/grapefruit and bread. Light citrus flavor with a nice breadiness and a medium smooth citrus bitter. Medium body with good carbonation a nice beer.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a 750 mL bottle into an IPA glass. Absolutely beautiful aroma of (unsurprisingly) fresh hops. Sweet citrus aromas akin to blood orange, with just a bit of toffee or caramel. A coppery-red color with a foamy white head that sticks around for a while. The flavor is very good, but just a tad muted for a fresh-hop ale. Sweet caramel malts on the front, with some butterscotch. Finishes with a spicy dryness. My biggest gripe with the beer is the mouthfeel. It’s a bit too fizzy and limp in the body to really let all of the subtle hop flavors come through. Overall this is a very tasty IPA, and if you’re a fan of fresh-hopped IPAs this is one well worth trying. If you’re not, this won’t be the one to change your mind.

Tap at Max’s Taphouse. Pours lightly hazy gold with a small fizzy white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is dank and herbal hops with pear and apple esters, cereal and grain malt. Flavor is heavy hops and bitterness with supporting malt and light fruity esters and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.
