Aroma is very malty, caramel, nutty, toasty. Pours clear copper brown. Small tan head. Flavor is malt, caramel, toast, roast, nuts, bitter roast, slight spicy hop character. Very nice. Slightly medicinal in the aftertaste. Light, smooth body. I?d recommend.

Some interest at first sip, quickly turns thin and uninteresting. Watery palate. Devolves into a very average beer.

Gatlinburg bottle. I’m not terribly familiar with altbiers but this seemed nice enough. Good caramel notes throughout with a little bitterness for balance. Maybe a slight metallic hint though. Fine.

Growler from Filling Station, Nashville. Pours a darkish amber with a small head of off-white cream. I wasn’t expecting much, but this was good. Easy-drinking and smooth, with plenty of caramel/toffee nuttiness. Hops are in the right amounts to keep the flavor clean and not cloying. Better than expected.

Bottle from Village Wine and Spirits. Delicate roast malt nose, some sweet tea. Light copper color. Rounded malty initial / light sweet mid / somewhat scratchy hop finish and then balanced. Thin-medium body. Okay. Decent maltiness.

Wow! A delicious session beer! Aroma was nice. Smelled like caramel covered Count Chocula cereal. Pour was was a crystal clear dark red/light brown with an off white ring for a head. Taste was very big for such a low ABV. Strong caramel, malt and toffee flavors that were not too sweet or cloying. A slight hoppiness keeps the malt flavors in check. As it warmed toffee and burnt caramel came out. Slightly nutty. Decent carbonation. Great find!

Aroma is quite earthy, nutty, hint of caramel, peach, fruit. Mouthfeel is really watery. Taste is loads of honey and nut flavor, it almost tastes english. Maybe they used English yeast? Overall pretty hoppy, light, and lacking in malt depth. for all those specialty grains in there, they need to use more! Overall, not bad; but nothing to seek out either.

glennmastrange (2145) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - MAR 2, 2014
Bottle. Moderate nutty and cereal for the malt, light herbs for the hops, light dough for the yeast, with faint date, root beer and a hint of solvent. Head is average size, frothy, light tan with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is sparkling clear darker copper. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a lively carbonation. Not a bad Altbier, just nothing really descriptive about it.

One of my first Terrapin beers in a while. Pours a garnet color. Quite pretty and opaque. The taste is a duo of mineral and nutty notes which is different from the slightly sweet caramel notes in the aroma. Some toast and malt notes round out the flavor.
