COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed in honor of the Athen’s Twilight Criterium, a professional bike race held in downtown. The first of the few kegs produced will tap today at Classic City Brewfest in Athens. The rest will be available at select places during the Twilight. Spike Buckowski, brewer at Terrapin tried to mimic the exact process and ingredients that make German style Kölschs great. Proceeds from the beer sales benefit the Twilight Foundation which oversee’s the race.

Draft at Sybarite Pig. Tulip. Pour a golden yellow with thick, fluffy white head. Great lace. Aroma of grains, citrus and malts. Taste is light and refreshing with modest carbonation. The crisp taste has grains, light malts, light citrus hops and an earthy finish of bread and yeasts. Very good Kolsch.

Not so fond of Terrapin beers but I have to admit they taste nice and are well brewed. It was refreshing as it’s style.

16 ounce pint - $5.50 at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Served up a translucent, medium yellow-hued body with a very slim, powder white head. Good lacing.

Smell: A bit weak in the aromatics department, with just light notes of pale malted grain, sweetish cereal hints, and a little accent of spicy-minded hops.

Taste: Slender pale maltiness, a little hint of wheat and an overall cereal sweetness. Never more than a very faint fruitiness. Minor spiciness contributed by the hops, its soft bitterness is accentuated by the carbonation. Near dry finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.

Overall: It’s a decent American-born Kolsch.

5/23/13. On tap at the Distillery. Clear golden pour with a nice off-white head. Bready, doughy aroma with light caramel. Big doughy malt flavor, crackers, and a touch of cream. Not bad.

Clear light yellow color. Growler from taps. Crisp clean and dry just like a kolsch should be. Good summery session beer with a touch of corn grain flavors. Some bubblegum in the aroma. Decent for the style.

Terrapin Road Warrior Kolsch is a decent version of the German style that is popular in Cologne. Kolsch is a mild session beer and Road Warrior is no different. Pour is light amber with a scant head. Aroma is lightly hoppy. Taste is also light with a nice hop character and slightly sour. Finish is clean. Road Warrior is great for on the road but not particularly interesting in the world of craft beers.

Comes out of the growler a very pale yellow - not impressive, but I like my beers dark, and since the ivory head is quite fluffy and thick I’ll give it a break. Wheaty aroma has subtle yeast and fruity notes. Crisp flavor is rather like a typical lager, but with more yeast and apple and just a touch of hops. Firm, smooth texture has a decent, if not impressive, amount of fizz. Hey, always glad to support a good cause, especially with beer! :D
