2008 bottle poured into a snifter. Pours almost completely black with hints of mahogany around the edges with a light mocha head that recedes fairly quickly to a ring and leaving little lacing. The aroma has a dark roasted malt backbone with some pretty heavy espresso hints throughout. The taste has the same espresso notes but the oatmeal comes through stronger along with some sweet chocolate. Toasted character remains throughout. Mouthfeel is super smooth with the oatmeal presence and some decent carbonation. It’s medium bodied. This is better than I remember it being last year. Very solid stout.

This beer ROCKED. Really. Had on tap at Redlight Redlight. Sweet aroma of coffee with cream. Flavor was sweet coffee and milk chocolate. Very well blended. Sweet for a non bitter lovin gal like me. Delightful. I could drink this daily.

Bottle received via trade with Beerlando (Thanks Bryan!). Pour was dark black, no head. Aroma was bitter espresso and not much else. Flavor also had a very pronounced espresso flavor, hint of sweet creamy vanilla on the finish. As the beer continued to warm, the flavors became more pronounced and enjoyable. The second Terrapin beer I’ve tried, and the second I wish I could get here on a regular basis! If your an espresso fan, go get your hands on this stuff!

12oz bottle-pours a thin light brown head and black color. Aroma is coffee grounds, ashy. Taste is coffee grounds/ashtray-dark malt, secondary earthy hops/chickory. Not my taste, one time.

An amazing beer geek score by my wife as part of my Christmas this year. Pours black like motor oil, thick, viscous, virtually no head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, some unidentified dark fruits. Flavor is coffee, but not overpowering, again with chocolate liquor and dark fruits. Enjoyable. Very thick mouthfeel makes this one a true sipper.

Smells of roasted coffee. Pours a veritable brown-black with medium brown head. Lacing is minimal, but leaves a residue behind tinting the glass amber and reminding you that this is definitely a coffee based beer. Mouthfeel is nice and thick and quite smooth to match. As for the taste, the beer is true to its name as coffee takes precedence and oatmeal resides as a secondary taste in the background. Probably not the best coffee based beer I have ever had (porters tend to make better coffee beers in my opinion), but for an imperial stout, this one is quite flavorful and not so burnt tasting. HIghly recommended.

12oz bottle thanks to TURDFERGUSON. Pours thick and dark like used motor oil. No head. Nose is of coffee grounds. taste is of coffee and oatmeal. Good taste. Mouthfeel is medium, not thick. Guess the oatmeal made it less harsh than other Impy stouts. Pretty good.
