Thanks to bitbucket for this one! Aroma - rich, sweet, dark malts, dark fruit, coffee, glory, just a bit stronger would make it perfect Pours a lovely, opaque thick black with uneven evanescent light brown head Flavor is sweet, with lingering bitter coffee and hints of roasted malt. I did not taste much in the way of hops. Mouthfeel is a bit thin for an imperial stout. This beer starts off sooo promising, but the flavor does not live up the aroma and appearance.

Draft at Broadway Brewhouse Midtown. My dear god this tastes like coffee. Pours a near black with great brown lacing, even though it couldnt hold a head. Roasted coffee grounds aroma. The flavor is a simple working class type coffee, nothing starbucks fancy or anything, just a regular *cup of joe*. Leaves a bitter, old coffee, finish. I HATE coffee, but this was impressive even for me.

12oz bottle from Leukens Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a dark brown to black, murky color with a massive dark brown/purple head that settles slowly and laces the glass heavily. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee grounds, coffee, maybe a hint of toffee, and more coffee. Maybe the faintest hint of dark chocolate and toffee. Flavor is pure coffee and oatmeal just as labelled. The beer is incredibly smooth and even with the strong coffee bitterness, is very drinkable. Generally full body with a bitter coffee and malt finish.

12oz, 2008 from KP. Pours a very deep, dark black with a dark brown head that goes away fairly quickly. The aroma is pretty darn strong in the coffee department. I am a huge fan of coffee stouts and like coffee in the aroma so this is pleasaing, however the coffee itself does not smell that great, it is more of a cheap coffee aroma. Do not get much else underneath the coffee, it kind of drowns everything out. Taste is coffee. This is fairly one dimensional. The body is a bit thin for my liking and the flavor is uncomplex and slightly watery. This is a decent coffee stout but there are so many other imperial stouts, coffee or otherwise, that are so much better than this that it is rendered somewhat useless.

12 oz bottle. Poured a motor oil black with a two finger brown head into a snifter. Aroma of coffee, coffee and more coffee. Flavor was coffee and oatmeal, without some of the bitterness of some impys. Full bodied with soft carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. This is one of my personal favorites.

12 oz. Oh yeah! Was in the mood for good stout. Pours black with tan head, which is how it should be. Very big coffee smell and taste...not surprising though. Roasted coffee and oatmeal tastes, with a nice sweet and salty nut flavor. Not much aftertaste...which made me kind of sad. I’d love ot have this on tap. Thanks Dave

I love this beer! Goes very well with a good cigar. This beer is dark and when poured into a class has great creamy carmel colored head. This tasty and potent brew is my favorite stout of all time. High five to the brewer!

(bottle from Sparky27, thanks Eric!) Pours dark brown with no head at all. There is a dominant smell of semi-sweet chocolate chips (not sure if the label is influencing my nose on this with the cookies), some dark roasted coffee, and Reese’s peanut butter cups. There’s this unique interplay in the aroma between salty, roasty, and borderline sour almost over-extracted coffee, but it never becomes offensive. Upon warming it smells more and more like chocolate covered peanuts. The taste is actually quite a departure from the aroma, at least initially, with a brief hit of raisin which lends a port-like quality. This taste then switches to a substantial amount of chocolate, and the coffee asserts itself in the finish with a strong roasted presence that does not become astringent. Again, I’m reminded of roasted peanuts in the finish that blends with the coffee. The mouthfeel is somewhat thin for the style, but otherwise it’s a pretty solid beer overall.
