Pours a very dark brown. Big ground coffee bean aroma. Very roasty. That oatmeal creates a nice smoothness. Then it transitions to a dry finish with coffee acidity to it.

Pours an opaque very dark brown with a short mocha-tan colored head. Knee buckling aromas of smoky coffee, chilis, olive, and greasy spoon griddle grease. Full body, slightly coating mouthfeel. Flavors approximate the nose, but scaled back a bit. Very well blended. Best terrapin I’ve had by far.

2013 edition. 12 oz. bottle poured into snifter. Pitch black with finger of dense tan cap that dissipates in a few moments. Rich, roasty malt and coffee aroma. Very nice slightly sweet coffee flavor... kind of like Kahlua. Good viscous mouthfeel. A well-executed coffee stout.

A: when poured, a caramel colored head forms which dissipates quickly and thin lacing is left. Pitch black in color. S: oh this smells delicious: fresh coffee and dark chocolate smell neither smell overpowering the other. T: chocolate at first with the coffee coming through later and lingering on the tongue. Slight bitterness keeping this beer from becoming too sweet. M: thick, chewy, mostly dry. O: very nice beer. Unique for sure and a good choice for breakfast.

Pours pitch black nose is coffee, chocolate. Very low carbonation and very thin. Taste is coffee, dark chocolate and roast. Slight lingering bitterness. Good, but I remember it being better the last time I had it. Coffee wasn’t as powerful, maybe it has fallen off?

UPDATED: APR 1, 2014 Bottle from a trade. Big deep chocolate aroma with a slight boozy background. Big creamy feel really smooth. A lot of coffee and chocolate all the way down. Really good stuff.

Aroma consists of coffee and chocolate. No hops on the nose. Appearance is jet black with a tan head that has poor head retention. Flavor is full of coffee bean flavor. Hop flavor is none. Mouthfeel is thin with a mild atringency. Carbonation is low. Overall, it is an ok coffee stout, but a poor oatmeal stout. Mouthfeel is lacking oatmeal perception. Way too thin. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
