Dark, sweet and very good. This is like an imperial oatmeal coffee stout all in one. It has a great flavor that has to be tried to be believed.

2006Bottle courtesy of kleyland and KieferUGA. Thought I had rated this; definitely have had it. Poured a syrupy black with smallish off white head. Aroma was really nice; coffee, cocoa, oats, and vanilla. From what I recall, some aging did the aroma some good. Full mouthfeel; a bit sticky and smooth. Flavor was really nice; had some barrel aged components. Nice blend of chocolate and coffee. Slightly sweet. Some vanilla as well. Overall it was fantastic; even better than I remembered.

2007 bottle at redlight. Thick black pour with big off white head. Oatmeal, coffee, and a weird hint of fried bacon in the aroma. Smooth coffee, chocolate malt, oatmeal taste that goes down really well. Really tasty, finishes very smooth. The aroma was just a little off, but it could of been the glass and yet did not take anything away from the taste. After getting a 4 pack, I found the off smell gone and nothing but glorious coffee, chocolate malt, and oatmeal in the aroma. Very good.

Glugs out pitch black with an obscene amount of cocoa colored soapy head that dies pretty quick. Draping sheets of lace occur with each sip. Smell of huge roasted coffee beans, coffee grounds, cocoa and a tiny bit of hops. Tastes of the yummy coffee beans, sweet malt, a little hazlenut and a hoppy finish. Mouthfeel is medium with way too much carbonation. Kind of stings. No ABV apparant at all. This would be one of my favorites if it wasnt for the carbonation. Well worth drinking nontheless.

Fresh 2007 bottle. This brew pours a menacing, thick, pure-black body with a large, foamy, brownish-tan head. After a few minutes, the spongy foam settles to just a tiny rim, leaving minimal spots of lacing behind. The aroma is intensely rich and inviting, with massive notes of espresso, dark chocolate, roasted barley, and dry oats. Right off the bat, you can tell that this is a coffee lover’s dream! Flavors follow suit, with huge espresso flavors dominating the dark chocolate and roasty grains. Oatmeal adds its signature smoothness, which is a much welcomed trait for such an intense coffee beer. The body is pretty thick and oily, bordering on overly sticky, and just shy of annoying. Finishes long and roasty. I practically fantasize about what some bourbon barrel aging would do to this already excellent beer.

Bottle. Pours an oily jet black with a two finger lasting tan head that lasts and leaves great lacing. Strong aroma of coffee and roasted malt with hints of caramel and oats in the background. Taste is the same as aroma . Full mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness, medium carbonation, and well hidden alcohol. Very good.

Black and opaque with a distinct coffee aroma. The flavor is strong coffee with traces of grape and chocolate malt.
