A: when poured, a caramel colored head forms which dissipates quickly and thin lacing is left. Pitch black in color. S: oh this smells delicious: fresh coffee and dark chocolate smell neither smell overpowering the other. T: chocolate at first with the coffee coming through later and lingering on the tongue. Slight bitterness keeping this beer from becoming too sweet. M: thick, chewy, mostly dry. O: very nice beer. Unique for sure and a good choice for breakfast.

Pours pitch black nose is coffee, chocolate. Very low carbonation and very thin. Taste is coffee, dark chocolate and roast. Slight lingering bitterness. Good, but I remember it being better the last time I had it. Coffee wasn’t as powerful, maybe it has fallen off?

This one was very good. Tastes like a strong cup of coffee. Thanks Kevin. And thanks to whoever gave it to him.

UPDATED: APR 1, 2014 Bottle from a trade. Big deep chocolate aroma with a slight boozy background. Big creamy feel really smooth. A lot of coffee and chocolate all the way down. Really good stuff.

Bottle, pours a nice black, aroma is coffee, taste has lots of coffee, a bit of oats and a light roast, pretty smooth and a nice offering

Aroma consists of coffee and chocolate. No hops on the nose. Appearance is jet black with a tan head that has poor head retention. Flavor is full of coffee bean flavor. Hop flavor is none. Mouthfeel is thin with a mild atringency. Carbonation is low. Overall, it is an ok coffee stout, but a poor oatmeal stout. Mouthfeel is lacking oatmeal perception. Way too thin. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Coffee on the nose with very low carbonation. Oatmeal base beer is completely missing with little to no mouthfeel apparent in the beer. The light body also makes the coffee flavor very astringent. Not a bad beer but would not buy again because of its $2+ price tag per bottle ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from tasty beverage Raleigh NC. This may be my first terrapin beer and man does it not let down. Really swell balance of oats the coffee. Sometimes in coffee beers the coffee can sometime be overwhelming. However this is not one of those. Some chocolate notes there as well. Alcohol is enough that you know it's there. Wish I would have bought more to age. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Kulsort, tyk med lille lysebrunt skum. Aroma af chokolade og frugtig kaffe. Smagen er fed, kaffe selvfølgelig, sødme. Lav carb, som harmonerer godt med smag.

12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. Thanks smonice! Pours a pitch black body with two fingers of mocha foam and nice lacing. Aroma is obviously coffee; slightly vegetal/peppery (in a good way) and roasty, with a nice bit of chocolate sweetness. Taste is an excellent roasty coffee with a real oat like bready quality and chocolate sweetness. Finishes dry with a lingering bitterness and vanilla undertone. Creamy and smooth mouth feel. The oats play a really nice role here in the mouth feel and in the taste and the coffee is huge against the chocolate. ABV is well hidden and this is easy drinking. It’s a great coffee stout, but I have to give the edge out to FBS.
