Heavy chocolate, coffee and vanilla sweetness in the aroma. Deep oily black. Full/Silky mouthfeel. Very sweet. This stout is dosed with sweet chocolate and coffee. Medium-bodied. An enjoyable brew, but not terribly complex. Very very sweet.

Pours a thick black with creamy brown head. It has a big coffee and roasted malt aroma. Some bit of bitterness and a bready malt. Sugary sweet and a bit of alcohol. Vanilla and cinnamon flavors are also strong and distinct. A strong coffee flavor and a definite powdered chocolate flavor. Nice full stout flavors and feel. It has a sweet malt and full chocolate and very nice coffee finish and fullness along with a lingering cinnamon role flavor at the finish which goes nicely with the coffee character.

On tap, pours black with a thin, off-white head. Not much to the aroma, but I was in a smoky bar. Not impressed with the taste. Strong, overwhelming flavor of freezer burned chocolate, bitter coffee. I’m a fan of impy stouts, but I really didn’t like this one.

On draft - Stogies and Stouts at Dunedin Brewery 02/08/07. Very stouty looking with semi creamy tan head. The aroma is a bit chocolate, a bit vanilla and maybe some caramel. The aroma is a little on the light side making it difficult to pick out the competing aroma notes. The flavor however isn’t at all light. It starts out with chocolate malts and burnt malts but they’re sort of semi sweet. Just after that a fruitiness surfaces with sweet grapes and dates. By midway a caramel sweetness overwhelms the fruit notes into the finish.

Thanks to Joebrew for sharing. This is a pure coffee stout along the lines of Peche Mortel, though not quite as thick as that beer. The aroma is nothing but coffee, but it is done well. It is not too bitter and there are no flaws. The same goes for the flavor, which is cold coffee and lightly bitter chocolate. The oatmeal is there as a roasted grain flavor that works well in this beer. A world class coffee beer.

Much thanks to faro99 for hooking me up with this. Pours a jet black with a minimal brown head. Nose of dark chocolate and coffe with a hint of oatmeal cookie. Light carbonation with a great chocolate macha like taste. Great creamy mouthfeel and you can defdinately get a slight cereal flavor with a nice hop finish. This beer frickin rocks.
