crizay (1069), Brook Park (was Tampa,FL), Ohio, USA Mar 12, 2006 Thanks to Degarth for another fine brew. Pours pitch black, tiny thin mocha head, doesn’t leave much lacing and looks thin. The aroma is coffee beans and chocolate. The taste is great very creamy and silky smooth so easy to drink, inital taste is coffee beans and espresso followed by dark and milk chocolate, it has a sweetness like a hershey’s chocolate bar along with an espresso and hoppy bite to it. Very good tasting beer I could drink this all the time.

Best bottle I’ve had so far.
Strong coffee aroma with roasted and slightly burnt notes. This thing is loaded with coffee. Slightly astringent in the smell.
Medium/small tan head that leaves no lacing and mostly diminishes. Black body with what seems to be relatively low carbonation.
Light sweetness with a strong bitterness from the coffee. Finish is somewhat lasting with a strong bitter coffee component. Roasted malts and some dark chocolate are present as well in the flavor.
Medium body with a slightly oily texture. Finishes with a fair bit of astringency from the coffee.
Overall, very enjoyable despite the astringent coffee presence. The rest of it is quite tasty. badbeer (391), Iowa, USA Jul 5, 2008 2007 Monster Beer Tour. Bottle courtesy of Faro; very big thanks!
Pours black, but dark red around the edges. Head is a dark tan color; doesn’t stick around for very long, but did leave bits of lacing. Smell of early morning coffee, a soft roastiness as well as just the slightest hint of hops. Taste is a combination of maybe a French roast coffee and some espresso. The awesome thing is that it has no astringency to it. The finish is where it gets even better, it starts out as previously described, but then some cocoa and a noticeable, but soft roastiness sets in and lingers. Mouthfeel started out medium bodied, but carbonation was a bit high, so I swirled my glass for a while and then the carbonation was about perfect. Mouthfeel would be higher, but as previously mentioned, carbonation started a little high for me. Drinkability is awesome, but would I have another? Hell yeah I would, if only I had better access to this. Awesome beer, worth picking up for sure. AgentSteve (606), Livermore, California, USA Jun 30, 2008 Bottle courtesy of ucusty, pours completely opaque deep brown with a finger thick pancake colored head. The nose is rich, with coffee, dark chocolate and malts. The flavor is the same but more subtle, with coffee standing out in the front, followed by chocolate and finished off with a very slight bitterness. Very smooth on the palate as well. nearbeer (1076), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jun 28, 2008 12 oz, 08 vintage. Opaque with a half-inch head that fizzles away in about a minute. Aromas of dark chocolate, espresso, and prunes. Flavors of licorice, coffee, unsweetened dark chocolate, hickory, slight metallic herb, light char and alcohol. Heavy body is smooth and finishes dry. BOLTZ7555 (404), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jun 21, 2008 Bottle acquired via trade with polomagnifico...THANKS, my friend!!! All shades of black covered by a beautiful 1/2 inch dense cocoa-colored head. Intense, flavorful, and unique. This, perhaps, is the best combination of these two flavors I’ve ever had. Starbucks serving Quaker Oats...on steriods!!! Creamy and coating, a very good brew. Wish this was available in AZ.
