4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Got this from Greg in Virginia. Poured incredibly thick and dark with a brown sugar head about 1 finger thick. Aroma hits you with bitter sweet chocolate, coffee beans and a hint of dark fruits. On the lips you are hit with up front with coffee and bitter chocolate. Follows with a dark sweet chocolate and some alcohol heat on the finish. A nice desert warmer on a cold winter day with a thick mouthfeel with more carbonation than expected, but nice.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This was, for me, surprisingly good. Nothing to say negative about the brewer, but I have been consistently overwhelmed by the coffee flavor in most coffee stouts. This, however, was great. A nice balance on the palate. The hops asserted themselves primly, and the flavor did not camp out on the tongue. I got almost no lacing, but so what. The color is black as deep space. I couldn’t get any light through it, even when I held it up directly against a lightbulb. Looks good, tastes great, a well done beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
4 pack for 12.99. Drank from the bottle so I can’t comment on the appearance. Aroma and taste is huge on the coffee flavor. Taste leans more towards the burnt coffee side though. An enjoyable coffee stout for fans of the style.

Poured from a bottle. Dark brown color, short lived medium tan head. Burnt malt aroma. Coffee and chocolate full body with a fairly light finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is a good stout. There are lots of coffee and dark chocolate notes. It is also pretty creamy and pleasant enough to drink. I had very high expectations for this one as I have repeatedly heard it is Terrapin’s best beer. It is a good beer, but there are better imperial stouts out there.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aromas of coffee, milk chocolate, and vanilla. Black with ruby highlights and a lasting tan head. Off-dry, roasty, and chocolatey. Creamy smooth, medium-full bodied, with lingering soft roasty flavors of coffee and chocolate.

Smooth drinker. Black pour with tan head. Strong coffee aroma of course with a nice tobacco hint. Taste is strong coffee and roasted malts with a hint of booze. Especially smooth tasting. Great coffee stout.

Not a strong coffee smell but you definitely taste it. Hides the higher alcohol well. Smooth finish. Great stout.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured into my duvel tulip. An extra from someone about a month ago, but forgot who.
Pours a jet black with a wispy tan head that immediately fades to nothing.
Strong aromas of coffee along with some semi-sweet chocolate as well.
Starts out with a strong coffee flavor rounding into a sweeter taste of chocolate. A little bit of earthy hops round out the flavor profile.
A tad thin for a stout, but better as it warms. The chocolate also shines more once it approaches room termperature.
Solid beer, but not fantastic. Definitely will go back to it again though.
