A grand name for a grand beer! Sampled on tap at Barley’s Taproom. A nearly black body supports the rich caramel-colored head (didn’t last long, though). The aroma boasted of robust roasted malts and a little mocha. Body was full, rich, and round without being too thick. The flavor had more of a mocha tune than coffee, with none of the alcohol burn I was expecting from an imperial stout.

Thanks to Secretsanta! This one has a perfect, strong coffee taste up front. The aroma is coffee, the flavor is coffee and the finish is coffee. If you love coffee, this is YOUR beer. Pours a black with tan head. Also notes of licorice, chocolate and smoke in there.

Thanks kiefdog for the share. Wow. I did not really like coffee stouts, but this one is not like every other one I have had. She pours black with a dark brown head. Nose is like walking into a Starbucks: spice chocolate, lots of coffee aromas, and a twinge of licorice. Some yellow on swirling. Flavor is the same with sweet, earthy coffee and some milk. Very nice. If coffee drank like this I would drink more coffee.

Thanks to Rogueone for sharing a growler. This beer pours black as night with a medium thin light brown head that recedes steadily. Rings of lacing. Aroma of coffee beans and some chocolate. Rich body with flavors of roasted coffee, hops and chocolate. The finish is dry and moderately bitter coffee and burnt malt, with a lingering chocolate espresso aftertaste. Enjoyable overall.

Growler sample courtesy of Rogueone. Pours pitch black with a 2 inch light brown head. Strong coffee nose without much else. Flavor is coffee and cream. Sort of like they took a cup of coffee and added bubbles. Delicious brew, but could use more complexity to be truly outstanding.

Strong aroma is of fine roast coffee with an undertone of unsweetened chocolate. It pours a deep, opaque sable - just a scratch above black - with a thick, fine-bubbled, cinnamon-brown head. Flavor is like high-quality coffee, smoky with a bitter-chocolate undertone and malty and nutty hints. Drinking this beer is almost like drinking cold, spiked mocha. Texture is thick and smooth, and there is a surprising touch of sweetness in the aftertaste. I highly recommend this to all devotees of stouts and porters.
