3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Smells of roasted coffee. Pours a veritable brown-black with medium brown head. Lacing is minimal, but leaves a residue behind tinting the glass amber and reminding you that this is definitely a coffee based beer. Mouthfeel is nice and thick and quite smooth to match. As for the taste, the beer is true to its name as coffee takes precedence and oatmeal resides as a secondary taste in the background. Probably not the best coffee based beer I have ever had (porters tend to make better coffee beers in my opinion), but for an imperial stout, this one is quite flavorful and not so burnt tasting. HIghly recommended.

Poured from a bottle. Dark brown color, short lived medium tan head. Burnt malt aroma. Coffee and chocolate full body with a fairly light finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is a good stout. There are lots of coffee and dark chocolate notes. It is also pretty creamy and pleasant enough to drink. I had very high expectations for this one as I have repeatedly heard it is Terrapin’s best beer. It is a good beer, but there are better imperial stouts out there.

Aromas of coffee, milk chocolate, and vanilla. Black with ruby highlights and a lasting tan head. Off-dry, roasty, and chocolatey. Creamy smooth, medium-full bodied, with lingering soft roasty flavors of coffee and chocolate.

Not a strong coffee smell but you definitely taste it. Hides the higher alcohol well. Smooth finish. Great stout.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured into my duvel tulip. An extra from someone about a month ago, but forgot who.
Pours a jet black with a wispy tan head that immediately fades to nothing.
Strong aromas of coffee along with some semi-sweet chocolate as well.
Starts out with a strong coffee flavor rounding into a sweeter taste of chocolate. A little bit of earthy hops round out the flavor profile.
A tad thin for a stout, but better as it warms. The chocolate also shines more once it approaches room termperature.
Solid beer, but not fantastic. Definitely will go back to it again though.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle. Pours a rich dark black color with a thin brown head that falls to a thin cap leaving light lace. The aroma is of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt, with a little alcohol in the background. The flavor is chocolatey up front and lots of roasiness and coffee in the middle and the finish thatis very creamy. There is a little bit of an alcohol presence all the way through. The mouthfeel is full bodied, rich, medium carbonation.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle poured into a tulip. Dark brown color with tan/brown head. Nose is raisins, roasted malt and coffee. Was hoping the coffee aroma would be more prevalent. Taste is initially sweet, with a chocolatey/coffee bitterness finish. A little too sweet and not enough coffee for me.
