Smells of roasted coffee. Pours a veritable brown-black with medium brown head. Lacing is minimal, but leaves a residue behind tinting the glass amber and reminding you that this is definitely a coffee based beer. Mouthfeel is nice and thick and quite smooth to match. As for the taste, the beer is true to its name as coffee takes precedence and oatmeal resides as a secondary taste in the background. Probably not the best coffee based beer I have ever had (porters tend to make better coffee beers in my opinion), but for an imperial stout, this one is quite flavorful and not so burnt tasting. HIghly recommended.

2014 Vintage...Pours dark black with a medium laced foaminess and medium depth. Roasted grain, oatmeal, coffee, and light hints of chocolate. Creamy feel to the palate but not heavy. Excellent IMO...Cheers!

Poured opaque black with a 1-finger dark tan head. Aroma of dark-roasted coffee, maybe a touch of anise underneath. Full body, smooth and just a touch oily. Mild finish. Flavor of coffee with a light note of grain in the base.

Bottle into tulip glass, opaque deep brown color with dark tan head. Aroma of dark coffee, chocolate, brown sugar, black liquorice and a woody note. Taste adds notes of caramel, dark fruits, oats, ash and slight nuttiness. Heavy body, low carbonation, soft, creamy with coffee roast finish. It’s a delicious imperial coffee stout, great body.

Twelve ounce bottle, 9.4% ABV. Trade from Jason. Pours very dark brown, with a cream colored head. Aroma is richly of coffee and malts. Tastes of coffee, with a nice sweetness and is very drinkable. A thumbs up for sure.

Bottle from Paula in jersey. Pours a medium to dark black(not as thick as some others). Aroma is huge coffee and chocolate, some smokiness and alcohol. Flavor is black coffee, some burnt chocolate, a little dried fruit and alcohol. Finish is very dry and ashy. Very nice coffee stout. Probably will age well. This was a 2014, 10th anniversary model. Only complaint is a tad thin for the style. My bottle said 9.4% not 8.1%

One of my favorite beers from Terrapin, roasted black coffee aroma, full bodied, pours jet black, strong flavors of coffee and chocolate, light notes of ash and tobacco.
