It is quite dark, clear, with a thin patchy white head. Nice malty nose, some toffee and spice, not overly hoppy! Medium bodied with a clean malty palate, with a gentle hoppy finish. Good generic beer, only a pound....at the moment!

Appearance: Dark ruby with beige head. Aroma: Raisin, light fruit cake, plum, subtle liquorice and roast malts. Taste: Low sourness and sweetness with low/medium bitter. Palate: Light/medium thick grainy texture and body, average carbonation, lingering roast malt fruity finish with a quite bitter finish. Comments: Good and lace.

500ml bottle from Tesco. Colour is deep brown, (not as dark as I expected from the name) with a frothy white head. Aroma has raisins and malts. The taste is similar. Really not what I expected from the name. An ok bitter. frothy head.

Bottle at home. Darkish amber brown with a thin pale brown head. Aroma has some nuts, tobacco, fruit. Flavour has some dark fruits, tobacco, dry bitter finish. Didn’t care for this much.

Bottle, 500ml. A deep copper colour with a large off-white head. Erm, not quite what I’d call dark... A malt aroma with a hint of dark fruit. Flavour of chocolate malt with some citrus. Quite watery, metallic finish. Moderate carbonation. Pretty bland.

Dark pour, disappearing head, malt and chocolate aroma. Taste is roast malt, coffee and a light hops note at the end with a bitter finish. Decent
