COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a classic stout. It is full bodied and smooth, delivering a rich, dark, malt flavour. This ale Osaka rich dark brown in colour, with a smooth and full bodied texture. It has good bitterness on the taste and a roasted malt flavour.

Bottle. Dark black with a little ruby. Tan head with some redness in it. Nose is like a chalky chocolate. Quite light though. In the mouth, there’s a hoppyness to it, and some milky malty chocolate. Surprisingly citrussy cutting through the malt and it all tastes a bit "watered down". Not my favourite stout to date.

500ml bottle - looks fine, I’ll say it looks as in as good condition as any bottle stout I’ve had, typical opaque black with a frothy lacy tan head. A good start, but where is the aroma? I can’t pick up anything worthwhile, it just smells bland. The taste is again a little on the thin side, faint roast malts, a little bitterness, but again bland. Disappointing, but at £1.35 a bottle, not so repugnant it should end up as drainpour.

Nice dark black colour, slight smell of toast and sugary lactose. Taste is far too sweet, hint of malt, and lactose. Not a lot too it. It’s a cheaply priced, but does not offer value. A bland beer.

50cl bottle. Pitch black with a billowing tan head; sweet cereal grain aroma; soft, with a cereal taste, with some milky chocolate thrown in, fortunatley not too sweet; and a dry lactic finish with some toasty bitterness.

Bottle. Almost black, no head. Aroma is of weetabix, slightly roasted. The taste is also weetabix along with mild coffee. Quite a lot of carbonation. The weetabix dominate throughout though, not a very good stout.

Thick pitch with a subsiding, almost manilla-hued swell of foam. Lightly roasted nuts, mocha, chocolate Eclair aroma. Thin, weakly roasted, hazelnut-topped Cornetto melting in a pint of burnt toast-scraped, slightly rusty water flavour. But not that good. Bland.

500ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a large head. Aroma is dry roast and dark berries. Taste is ashy to to start. Weetabix and berries in the finish. A little roast on the aftertaste.

Bottle. Near black with a beige foam. Aromas are coffee and liquorice with some smokiness. Background weetabix and caramel with hints of berry. Some burnt toast with floral notes. Flavours are roast malts with hints of chocolate and herbal liquorice. Cream with spritzy yeast and a light bitterness. Some traces of berries. Dry on the finish. Simple, as the name implies.
