mikey (319), farmington, Utah, USA Apr 6, 2008 Poured from a nitro tap, an attractive amber with the a creamy off-white head, full of the expected bubble cascade on the glass. The head stays with the beer throughout. The nose was of carmalized malt with a slight fruitiness. The taste started with fruity notes of peach and berry, plenty of sweet malt notes and just a tiny bit of noble hops at the end. The mouthfeel was quite disappointing. The nitrogen didn’t help much, except to put a pretty, creamy head on the beer. Slightly oily, no ’creamy’ mouthfeel and not enough hops to spice up the palate. All in all a pretty run of the mill English Bitter. I’d like to think the nitrogen would have made this a more interesting brew but that’s not to be the case.
Mogwai (152), Askeby, Denmark Jul 8, 2008 Can. Pours a brown colour with small head. Aroma is vague. Flavor is non-existent. Absolutely tasteless. Bad. shendrix (429), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 6, 2008 I had this on tap at the Ren Faire in Bristol, IL. It poured a deeply golden/amber with a fine creamy head. The nose was a little bland, a sort of hoppy grassiness. The palate, though, was far better than I was expecting. A very creamy flavor with light citrusy notes set against grassy hops and butterscotch in the background. A welcome surprise on a hot day. patricks110 (102), Alberta, Canada Jul 1, 2008 Overall a great beer for only 3.6 percent. I had this in a can, and it said 3.6 but this site says 5, so maybe the Canadian can versionis lower?? Anyways, the beer pours a amazing golden colour with a huge creamy white head. A slight bitterness does not detract from the fruity aroma which is the predominant taste. Had in can, but can get on tap at Kilkennys Irish Pub, Calgary AB. The_Captain (251), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 24, 2008 From the widget can to a pint glass - Love the pour from these widget cans, nice reddish brown with thick building foam head. Creamy smooth caramel malts with a hop bitterness on the pallet. Body is a little weak all around with a mildly bitter finish. TheOrange (339), Kent, Ohio, USA Jun 21, 2008 The aroma is very light, nothing jumps out as a hint to the flavor. After the pour finishes it is a pretty orange hued amber, with a big frothy/foamy head. I really like the nitrogen widgets, and their resulting pours. The flavor is very mellow, the a touch of malts, and very light hops. An enjoyable beer, But there are better bitters.
