Tetley bitter on tap at Beehive Liverpool. Basically this is brown water in a glass with the merest hint of hops. Eventually had to buy a bottle of Mann’s brown ale just to liven it up a bit

Clear amber color, steady creamy off-white head. Leafy and nutty hoppy aroma. Smooth mouthfeel (no suprises here). Watery, mildly nutty hoppy flavor. Boring and thin, but at least slightly hoppy.

Keg at The Paddocks, Banbury. Nitro gassed murky orange with cream head. It was difficult to taste anything through the Nitrgen and temperature. Bland pasteurised swill. Terrible.

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2007 Crystal chesnut pour. Pasteurisation and nitrogenation has failed to completely destroy the character of this beer. OK, there’s the regulation bath foam lacework and soapy bitterness, but also a mellow hint of fruity hops and doughy malt that reminds me of Op-Ale. Sniffs of wood, vanilla, biscuit. Almost enjoyable.
