33 cl bottle @ Timo A.
Pours dark brown color with a small head. Licorice and roasted malts on the nose, faint yeast and caramel. Licorice on the flavor as well, caramel malts, ripe fruit notes and some earthy notes as well. Very smooth palate. I would have guessed this to be a Porter. Very good.

Ordentlicher Bock ohne große Highlights. Torfig, mit Anklängen von Hopfen, Röstaromen und ein paar Nüssen. Trinkbar, ordentlich, fair.

Pours out of the bottle in a deep dark brown colour with steady low head and medium to smooth body. Mild carbonation. Aroma of malt and barley. Taste of malt, nuts, woods, torf, caramel and bread. Earthy finsih. Easy and nice to drink. Not bad.

UPDATED: JUN 24, 2013 As Coronator Dunkler Doppelbock. 33Cl Bottle @ Ambrosetti, Berlin. Pours nearly black with a small thick beige head. Nose is roast, rye and caramel. Flavor is nuts, caramel, rye-bread and roast. Thick and chewy malty. Really tasty and delicious Doppelbock. 2nd bottle June 2013. Overly rich and chewy. Massive chocolate, nuts and caramel. Greatness. 3,9-4.

2x33cl fliptop bottles at brewery 03-2013 and at home 04-2013. - Truly exceptionally balanced, creamy and even hop-forward Dunkelbock. The defining quality element is the virtual lack of residual sugars and caramel in the taste profile, which makes many other German Doppel/Bocks of the same etymological family unpalatable to me (Animator, Celebrator, Maximator...) Coronator is defined by its bitter roasted malts (dark chocolate, verging on tobacco), creamy mouthfeel, a reasonable mid-range ABV and a decently hopped beer underneath that. Close to a German ImpStout avant la lettre, which dare not speak its name... Justifiably the pride of the brewery (great in their parfait/creme brulée desert). Worth seeking out and deserving of a higher rating.

Test vom 6.3.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,13,12,12,9,12 - 12,00

Bottle. Dark copper-hued brown body with a big creamy off-white head. Nose is dense caramel tones, dark malts, hints of nuts. A bit simple, but decent. Taste is sweet caramel, toffee and hints of biscuits, red fruits and licorice. Full body, medium carbonation. An OK specimen of the doppelbock race.

0,33L swing-top but with a beautiful, long and slender neck. MHD 12.07.12. Sweet caramel nose with earth and toffee, brown sugar and burned pumpernickel crusts, good roast and there’s some faint fruit. Dark ruby with a large, sudsy tan head. Taste is very sweet and the oily medium body is rather sticky, with sheets of malt in competition and a little alcohol to numb. Lots of really nice dark fruity malt here, in the Andechser style, firm bitterness and the general impression of yuletide cake. Too sweet to drink too much, but quite enjoyable by the bottle.

Test vom 12.8.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,11,7,12,9,12 - 10,95

Bottle from Quack-Duck, thanks! Dark brown color. Chocolate ckae, a hint of roast and caramel in the aroma. Malty sweet, roasty flavor with raisin and chocolate. Full bodied. Some roastbitter notes in the aftertaste. Well made doppelbock.
