COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Scotch Ale, also known as a Wee Heavy is a big rich malty ale. When you open the bottle we recommend you pour it into two glasses and share it with a friend. As you drink the beer slowly the flavor will intensify and become more complex as it warms. The beer gets better with age, so buy 10 bottles and drink one a year for 10 years.

Well I’m pretty happy with this beer already. I’m not a big fan of wee heavy / Scotch ales, but several people said I should still try this one anyway. So I picked up a bomber and gave it a try. I have liked the two other beers I have tried from this brewery so far, so it was worth a try. Appearance is good, a good light brown head caps a somewhat amber-brown to almost red and pretty much clear beer. Aroma is about what I expect from this style, heavy malts along with brown sugar, molasses and dark fruity notes. The flavor fits this profile too. Sweetness is medium and notable, There’s not a lot of outright hoppy flavors, but there’s a pretty good bitterness that’s plenty noticeable, and IMO balances it out better than some Scotch ales I’ve tried. Body is medium and slick, with a sweet, malty base and a brown sugar finish. It’s actually pretty enjoyable, and I’m going to give it a good rating. For me, this isn’t a style I’m real fond of, so if this beer is this tasty to me, it must be good! I think it fits the style pretty well, although this beer probably overlaps with barleywine quite a bit (it’s kind of like a pretty sweet and not hoppy barleywine that’s bittered for balancing bitterness only, not for a huge hops profile).

22 oz. bottle. Pours dark brown with an off white head. Aromas of dried fruit, roasted malt and brown sugar. Great mouth feel, semi-sweet taste and finish. Very good beer.

Aroma of figs, and malts, combined with notes of vanilla. A dark brown pour with ruby highlights and a foamy, mostly lasting tan head and spotty lacing. The taste is minimally sweet. Pleasing so. Roasted malts, smoke, nuttiness, fruit greet the pallet. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, an extremely tasty brew with lots going on. Well done, Big Beer!

Another good beer from a new local brewery. Pours clear medium brown with a light beige head. Aroma is malty, smokey, leather, and carmel. Taste is smooth, sweet but not to much and hints of chocolate and nice malt background. Over all a pretty good beer thats leaves your palate wanting more and nice bitterness to finish it off. I really like where this brewery is going.

In a Jester King glass from a 22 oz bottle. Very robust flavor, but smooth mouthfeel. Not boozy. Color is a appealing dark brown. Glad to see this brewery taking off. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a red tinge -- the head is great, tall and sticky with copious lace. Nose is smoke, fig, and malt. Big and sweet up front, but the treacle has a barbecue edge on the mid-palate. Finishes cigar-like. I want some to age. Excellent.

Pours dark brown with a bit of off-white head. Caramel and ash, in a good way. Is there a Texas small beer Brewery?

22oz bottle .. . pours a very dark black brown .. decent foam .. . an interesting take on the style, quite bold with a good deal of tar chewiness .. . light finish .. . pretty good, happy to see this brewery going in this direction .. . .

I like that book.

Oh, have—have you read it?

Oh, yeah. Yeah, twice I read it. Um, once in the original and then in the paperback. Really relate to the character of, um, Jonathan. Thought he was great.

The serial killer...?
