3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 TwinBeer (49) - Houston, Texas, USA - MAY 1, 2013
This is my first beer from these guys and I get a very good impression that they are going to do good things. Pours almost jet black with a nice beige tan head and light lacing down the glass. Aroma is vanilla, sweet chocolate, and light toffee hints. Taste is smooth sweet malty/toffee with med body and light carbonation. It has a great bittering hop that finishes dry and a lingers just long enough to make you want another sip. Overall not a bad beer at all I could see myself drinking a few more in my near future can’t wait to try some more from these guys.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 degbert (804) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAR 31, 2013
Bottle. Pours very dark with prominent carbonation; the head is high and cinnamon-colored. The nose has espresso and vanilla elements, but there’s also a definite herbal edge; there are hints of sage and mint. The flavor is good enough -- coffee, chocolate, and smoke -- but the mouthfeel is very, very thin; too thin for the style. This is a good beginning, but there’s more to be done here.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 Tejas (800) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 7, 2013
Good flavor but poured flat as a ten year old. Zero head and zero lacing on the glass. Thin body too. Disappointing; I really wanted to like this one more than I did.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 Beerenberger (789) - Fischer, Texas, USA - FEB 27, 2013
The aroma was not strong of roasted malt. Pours a inky black with a mostly diminishing tan head and no lacing. The taste is moderately bitter. Dark roasted malts, a fruity sweetness in the middle, and nice hoppy finish. There is also a nice long roasty aftertaste. Full body with soft carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel. Overall, the taste starts out slow and builds. This was a very enjoyable porter.

Oh good. Black 10wt oil beer with a little off-white head. Roasty sweet malt with hints of cocoa. Mineral and chalky but wet mouthfeel at the same time. Full body and taste and more sessionable than the SS burried hatchet which has a very similar flavor. Now if they could get this down to 5%. THAT would be something.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 SudsMcDuff (4675) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - FEB 20, 2013
probably the best beer from this brewery so far .. . medium brown .. mild foam .. . light sweet dirt mostly, pleasant mouthfeel .. . to call it crude is a stretch and a whole glass would never be finished but it was alright .. . . do have any proof of age? you have my word

Not much in the way of complexity but the somewhat chocolaty roasted malt is still quite tasty. Looks a bit thin to be "Texas Crude".
