What a tasty bockbeer this is. Creamy, with a nice caramel flavoured taste in the background. in november 2010 chosen the best bockbeer in the Netherlands by Pint.

Stevig schuim. Donkerbruin/amber, licht troebel. Aroma: noten, caramel, malt, alcohol. Goede balans van bitter en zoet, alcohol komt door in de smaak. Fles liet 7% zien, niet 7,5 zoals hier aangegeven. Licht droog.

Medium brown with a white head. A combination of sweetness, caramel, hops, and bitterness. A very balanced and drinkable bock.

After a visit at Texel island a couple a years ago, I came back with a selection of beers from the Texels brewery and this one was one of the best amongst them. I got it again this year and I realized I hadn’t written a review, so here it is. 300 ml bottle, poured into a snifter. Bottle fermented. Pours a very dark ruby colour, almost brown, with two fingers of thick, creamy head, beige in colour and with excellent retention. Some light lacing is being left at first around the glass. Smell of caramel, roasted malts and dark chocolate. If you smell hard enough you get an alcohol smell too. Taste is slighty sweet at first, then turning into a softly bitter taste, leaving on the aftertaste flavours of biter chocolate and caramel. Full body and as much carbonation as needed. A grea beer, I can see why it keeps winning "best bock beer" prize in the Netherlands.

Bottle from the Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Pitch dark, firm head. Taste of cereals and roasted malt. Very complex grainy flavour. Some dryness, some sourness. The back label says they have used special hops, without naming them, and it seems like the yeast si special, too. I’ll have to look out for more beers from this brewery.

It’s a bock beer brewed for the autumn. But I think you can drink it every season. It’s a beer with a light aroma but with a nice flavor, dark color. The flavor stays in your mouth for a longer time. A good and very nice beer to drink with friends.

Big fiz when opening. Nice dusty brown coloured and filtered body with small tan head. Surprisingly fine aroma; malts do great with toffee, spices, pie crust and figs to complete the picture. Taste is pleasantly sweet and pretty full in flavour, even though the body is a bit thin. Good long finish carries on the same flavours, not much extra. Can’t think of any brewer with such differing quality brews. This I really enjoyed. (33cl bottle, bought on Texel)

Countbeer (2852) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - NOV 29, 2010
Bottle: Off white foamy head disappears slow. Amber dark brown colored beer. Smell is fruity with hints of toasted malts, caramel, and sweets. Taste is less fruity than smell still sweet: caramel, toasted malts, liquorice, dark fruits, hints of brown sugars and hops and a slight hint of yeast. Good beer.

Utrecht bokbier-festival 2003. Dark brown coloured, off-white head. Malts, chocolate, liquorice, fairly complex. Smooth finish. Nice bock.

(Bottle 33 cl) Dark, almost black with a tall, handsome light brown head. Slightly hazy. Rather burned yet sweetish malt, but in no way too sweet. Fatastic full body and a fine long aftertaste. Comes quite close to an Abbey Dubbel and it is also top fermented. 311003
