3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (33 cl) from The Cracked Kettle. Cloudy orange, medium off-white head. Slightly berryish and caramelly malt aroma, with herbal, floral hops, and some bubble gum phenols. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Fairly dry, low to medium bitterness. Quite good, but the reason for the designation "donker wit" eludes me, not to speak of the RB style selection.

Pours abrownish-orange beer with a medium opacity. Looks indeed like a good german Dunkelweizen. Smells malty and fruity sweet, with slight roasted aromas. The beer starts malty sweet, with hints of caramel-chocolate in the background. The finish is revealed minimal bitter, again with good caramel tones and some roasted malts in the background!

Povero me, una delle peggiori dunkelweizen assaggiate, e dire che lo stile è un po’ un mio punto debole.

Tap at d’Arendsnest. Murky, orange body with a fingerthick, off-white, creamy head leaving an excellent lacing. Malty and spicy aroma. Sweet, light acidic and light bitter with spicy notes. Watery mouth with a dryish finish.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at De Koog on Texel, the island where the brewery is situated. Aroma is less banana and a bit more spicey and even citrucy than expected. More hops too. Golden and then some, but not quite amber. A little fairer than the picture on the website. Sweeter than I expected, light bitterness. I guess late noble hops. Body is rich for the style, quite silky. Nice hops keep well in the finish. The most tasty Weizen I have had.

Murky brown grey - bit like clay. Frothy head.
Fresh peachy/strawberry smell with a wholesome bready base. Lightly citric.
Fresh subtle strawberry taste, bitter-watery sweet with a woody aftertaste. Very subtle hints of (milk) chocolate and cake(?)
