3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Bartzilla (500) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 8, 2007
On draft at Arendsnest, Amsterdam. Not a lot of love, I see. Granted this isn’t like every tripel you’ve tried before.. or is it? Yeah, this is a pretty standard tripel, but that’s not a bad thing. Sweet with malt, coy with hops, bursting with yeast. I liked it.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Rastacouere (6042) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 21, 2007
Hazy dulled golden body, fading white cover. A bit of powder sugar obstructs this yeasty, alcoholic, floral beer that indeed feels like a triple. It develops a competent bitterness, but remains quite sweet even so. Heavily herbal, kinda astringent. Vanilla tones show up amidst the floweriness. Higher alcohols and phenols also derivate from this exaggerating yeast strain. A witbier meets a tripel really. Solid foundations, but weird accessories.

A Mes rate:
30cl bottle at my place of choice to watch the football. Nice cloudy amber appearance with a decent off white head. Spicy alcohol nose with a little milky malt. Lovely hoppy hit in the flavour with some sweet grapefruit notes and a very crisp hoppy finish. Very carbed and slightly sticky palate. Overall a reasonably enjoyable spicy tripel.
