COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A new Vintage Cider from Thatchers combines the heritage of real Somerset cider with a contemporary style designed for a new generation of lovers of this very English drink. In the Thatchers tradition of using freshly pressed English apples, Vintage, as its name suggests, is produced from only the best apples cropped in a single good year. After being cold filtered, fermented then blended, Thatchers Vintage is matured slowly in oak vats, giving this robust cider an intense apple character with a lively sparkle.

50cl 2012 Vintage. Pours golden clear with thin head. Aroma of barrels, bar cider cellar (live cider in this case) and autumn apples. Wonderful medium dry cider. Alcohol is not noticeable, body is medium with soft carbonation and soft, oily texture. Enjoyable both room temperature warm and served at 8 deg. Love to try earlier years.

Bottle (2012). Quite deep golden body with a disappearing head. Aroma has sweet peary esters and sweet apple jam. Also booze. Sweet taste with honey and apple jam. Some light woodiness and a bit of alcohol bitterness in the finish which later gets more intensive, even medicinal and at times resembles rotten apples. Nice and juicy but not really complex.

UPDATED: SEP 14, 2013 2012 vintage. Pours a clear yellow/orange with very little head. Smells of toned down apple cider. Body is quite spritzy, light to medium. Flavour is apple cider, slightly acidic but very drinkable and pleasant. Nothing wrong with this. Serves its purpose in a pleasant way. Canít taste the oak, aging isnít noticeable. Bottle 9 of 9 on the night. Could drink buckets of it, but itís not interesting or complex.
