Good dry pine, and some nut and sweet malts. Black body with good head. Brown floaters moving around pint glass like carbination bubble would do. Good flavor mix of citrus, nut meg and some sweetener. Dry palate afterward with some power grapefruit left there. Good Beer

Bottle. Pours more brown than black with thin creme colored head that dissipates. Mild hop aroma over medium carbonation. Medium substance and coffee flavor. A bit sweet with a hop resin finish. Above average complexity for the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bottle. Brown with one finger head. Malty brown ale with big tasty hops. Lots of citrus especially. Very delicious meld of flavors.

1/25/2012. From bottle. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aromas of dark roasted malt, resin, citrus, caramel. Caramel flavors with malt showing through, nice hoppy finish.

Clear mahogany pour with a tightly packed khaki head. Candied citrus, orange peel, honey-baked biscuit, resinous pine, and caramel malt. Nothing was terribly aggressive here. Balanced and drinkable but not awe-inspiring or memorable.

This was OK and definitely had the Stone stamp on it. Hoppy aroma that leaned toward piney. Dark brown color with a medium and quickly dissipating head. Medium body and good carbonation. This reminded me of a brown ale mixed with an IPA, which may be what they were going for. Some roasted malts in the background but not enough in my opinion. Nice bitterness that needed a little more balance. Good but Stone puts out much better.

Opaque dark brown beer, thick pale tan head. Palate is light and semi soft with mild fine carbonation. Softish malt, not sweet. A little malt cream. Decent piney hops, touch of mint. Finishes soft and semi dry and somewhat wishy washy! Mild bitter linger. Okay, lack a bit of cohesiveness.

Bottle. Brown pour with thin white head, light lacing. Aroma of molasses, quite potent, peppery hops, hops are rather timid. Flavor is sweet, molasses and roasty, bitter finish. Thick palate, med carbonation.

12oz bottle purchased somewhere in CO. Poured cloudy with a thick creamy head. Opaque redidh brown. Much more brown than black. Very light lacing. Aroma was strong grapefruit with light pine and a surprising dark fruit maltiness. The flavor was similar to the aroma with a bit sweetness followed by long lasting medium bitterness. Marvelous mouthfeel. Feels bigger than it is.

Bottle - Alcohol, dark fruit and tons of grapefruit hops. Almost opaque brown and a thick thin brown head. Flavor is complex with brown sugar, grapefruit hops and more dark fruits. Medium body, with a sublime mouth feel. Maybe a bit rich for a Black IPA, but pretty good.
