3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
31st July 2013
Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Colin Theydon for this one. Pretty hazy gold - amber beer. Little pale cream coloured head. Softish palate, semi dry. Light carbonation. Light seltzer minerals. Nice mango syrup, as if poured from a can of tinned mango. A little fresh orange. Very light sourness and white wine. Whisper of vanilla. Light dry finish. An approachable sour which drinks well below it’s abv.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tasting at Matt’s
Hazy amber color with small head. Sour aroma, hint of acetone and nuts. Strange flavor, on one side there is some good maltiness, on the other side there is a strong acetone feeling; the underlying sweetness tries to keep some drinkability, but the result is aggressive, too acidic. This beer is way too aggressive, unclassy; if you need a sour beer, pay for a Belgian Gueuze instead.

Nice sour, lightly acidic lemon in the nose, hints of peach. Light sweet flavor, good funk, some ripe lemon, light semi-dry dough, subtle, light brett, sweat. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Lightly warming finish, more lemon and peach, some tangerine, soft dough. Very smooth for the strength. Nice nuance.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle... Hazy golden ale with virtually no head – it’s tiny, white and gone in the blink of an eye. The aroma offers phenolic spiciness and a vinous, oaken tanginess. Full-bodied with airy carbonation. The flavor is lightly tangy, heavily sweet, and presents more yeast-driven spiciness than I am able to enjoy – clove, to be specific. Finishes tangy and a touch too sweet. A solid beer, but not at all my thing. Bottle courtesy of newcigarz!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ What the Funk Denver 2014. Pours a golden orange appearance with a thin cream colored head. Pretty strong aroma. Definitely some cheese and funk in the nose. Plenty of earth as well. Flavor was a bit strong. Some citrus and a lot of barnyard funk. Light cheese / parmesan. Again, kind of strong but kind of fun to drink.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
750mL thanks to brainlair. Dry cork broke in the bottle upon opening. Annoying but no problem. Pours a clear golden, lower small white head. Nose is again some of that weird Ale Apothecary house yeast that gives off dill pickle. Pretty uncanny dill pickle. Taste is much sweeter than expected, sticky, white sugar, pretty sticky. Not at all what I was expecting.
