4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thanks for bringing this guy over Todd, been interested in trying Ale Apothecary fr a little while now. Pours a light orange in color with two fingers worth of bretty, frothy head. Really nice brett forward nose, itís dry, lemony, apricot, and very saison-like in nature. Flavor has a lot of similarties to the nose, itís not as dry or tart, itís a little sweeter, but still very crisp and saison-like. There is a light honey flavor to it, almost like a nice biere de garde. Very clean and lightly tart. Light to moderate mouthfeel, gentle carbonation, no acidity, and a moerate finish. Really, really nice beer. Iív been going back to smelling it a ton, it has a really nice farmhouse character to it reminiscent of Logsdon and HIll Farmstead. Incredibly crushable at 9.3%, this guy can sneak up on you if youíre not careful. Definitely looking forward to whatís to come from Ale Apothecary in the coming months/years.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle thanks to cocoapuph. Pours clear golden, small off-white head, dissipates fairly quickly, good lacing. Aroma is funky, cheese, feet, oak and lemons. Flavor is light tart, medium funky, some fruit, oaky lemons. Light body. Weird.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750mL shared by dice. Bottled sometime in 2014, the rest of the numbers have been away. Abv is 9.45. Pours dark golden with medium head. Aroma is strong with spikey esters, some light pear, wild flurries, berries. Flavor is too sweet for the beer, not super sweet but the context for this beer is off. Some light sweet apple juice with light tartness. Cool beer but too sweet.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
This sour, the forst beer Iíve tried from AA, started really good and just got better and better. Nearly 10% abv was not detected at all, and the carbonation level and mouthfeel were soft and perfect for this beer. The aroma and flavor were cheesy funky, slightly sweet, oaky, vinous, and complex as all get out. Got better and better as it opened up. Expensive, but worth it.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled February 2014
A steady pour into my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip produces a three finger thick, plus two additional above the rim, pale tan colored head that I need to periodically suck foam from in order to keep it from overflowing. The head leaves lots of lacing on the sides of my glass and as it slowly subsides creates quite a bit of structural texture. The beer is a pale honey color that shows a clear, yellow-gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells funky, earthy, grainy, and tart up front. Fruit notes of floral apples, white wine like sharpness, and touches of tropical fruit that leans towards kiwis, perhaps a hint of lychees, a bit of citrus (that the tartness brings out) and star fruit is backed by some peppery spice notes, earthy, musty, almost coriander like notes, and a bit of green, spicy fruit character. There is a solid cracker like grain character, and savory pale malt note that comes out after a second pour of this beer that is really quite nice and almost savory.
Lightly sour throughout, this has a nicely balancing, tannic, woody flavor and texture to it, as well as a spicy, peppery finish to it. There is an ample fruitiness to the beer with notes of floral apple, tart star-fruit, ripe honeydew melon, a bit of musk mellon, some soft pear notes (especially towards the finish), and a tropical white wine like note that reminds me of a ripe, funky Sauvignon Blanc. This has a nice lush texture without being heavy, in fact the beer is dangerously quaffable, and I was surprised to see how strong this beer actually was. There is a very soft mustiness to this beer, it accentuates the earthy spiciness, has a touch of phenolic character to it, and just a bit of a funky edge. The oak is nicely subtle here; it contributes to the spiciness, boosts the texture, and adds a soft, savory, toasted note that nicely accentuates the pale malt character. The last has a nice pale cracker like grain note, and a bit of toothsome rustic bread like character to it.
This is a really nice beer, it has a nice sourness, and just a touch of a funky edge to it, but really is quite well balanced and integrated; the fruit character really integrates quite well with the sourness, the soft oak, the pale grain, and the lactic acidity so well, plus there is a complex, supporting fermentation character that helps to tie everything together. The oak character is especially well done; it plays an easy, supporting role that is here to only accentuate.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Small rim over fully hazy yellow beer. Liqueur, perfumey, but in a very good, slightly vinous way. Fruit as citrus, banana; vanilla, maybe even Bourbon. Citrus≤, like drinking a sweet(ish) lemon, would that exist. Again vanilla. Sharpish feel, faint astringency, light to meidum body. Very good one! Many thanks to Don!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from a 04/26/2013 vintage bottle.
Aroma is rather fruity with a lot of pineapple, pear, tropical and stone fruit. Some moderate wine notes and tannins with some light oak. Light citrus and acidity. A hint of alcohol.
Pours a hazy, gold with a large, pillowy, white head of moderate thickness that recedes fairly quickly. Really light lacing and small legs.
Flavor is slightly acidic with a hint of grain. Moderate fruit notes with some pineapple, pear, grapes, stone fruit skins and melon. Medium light tannins with some light oak notes. A bit of alcohol spice in the very dry finish.
Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with high carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall, a surprisingly enjoyable beer. I remember hearing this batch was off when I bought the bottle so I sat on it and whatever was wrong has definitely cleared up. Great fruit notes with nice complimentary wine notes. Very fruity and dry.

Super hazy golden pour with white head. Aromas of pear, summer fruits, sour notes. Full bodied, well rounded, some fruit, kind of creamy, unripe nectarines, lingering sour and wood notes. Great.

Bottle @ RBSG 2015. Thanks, Ryan. Clear yellow pour with white foam. Big time lemon and green grapes on the nose. A bit of melon, some peach, and a hint of herbs. Nice stone fruits, too. Really bright sourness and acidity on the tongue. Tons of tangy fruits such as grape, dried apricot, and lemon. Slight oak and damp, grassy funk. Really nice.
