Cask (handpump) at the Pembury Tavern, Hackney, 31 July 2009. Very dark red, almost black. Almost entirely flat. Very dry and roasty. Lots of burnt malt. Quite dry and bitter finish. Medium weight. Pretty good. A bit more condition would have been an improvement.

Cask@Pembury Tavern. Close to pitch black, not much head. Aroma is liquorice, coffee, mildly roasted notes as well as soem nuttyness. Flavour is coffee, mild roasted notes, some dark fruits and overall rather nicely balanced.

[RBESG, Sheffield]
Cask @ the brewery, Sheffield.
Pours completely black with a very nice, creamy, beige head. Aroma is great. Coffee, some port, dark chocolate, vanilla and roasted malts. The mouthfeel sadly lets it down a bit, as it does feel a bit light in body. Flavour starts sweet, then turns to hard roasted malts, a touch of port and good dark chocolate. Long, lingering, roasted and dr aftertaste.

Cask at the brewery, sheffield. Alround rating: Roasted barley, some coffee and chocolate, its overly burnt for me. Good to have a beer with some flavour in it in sheffield, but its just the wrong flavours.

[cask @ RBESG 2009] Tons of coffee in the nose along with mocha, bubblegum black malt. Iced coffee with hazelnut and vanilla. Opaque black with a lasting tan blanket. Coffee and French vanilla with a little bitterness from the black malts. Hazelnuts. Light body, low carbonation, tangy eventually ends clean.
