12 ounce bottle from Jungle Jims. Dark and chocolate taste with a nice hop profile. Not agressive, but well done.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear very dark brown color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of huge grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, chocolate, cocoa, toast, light char, floral, grass, and floral/roasted earthiness. Fantastic aromas with bright citrus/tropical hops and light-moderate roasted malt balance; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, chocolate, cocoa, toast, light char, floral, grass, and floral/roasted earthiness. Good amount of pine/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon/orange zest, pine, chocolate, cocoa, light char, and floral/roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and balance of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate roasted malt balance; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, moderately sticky, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome black IPA. All around great complexity and balance of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate roasted malt balance; and very smooth and crisp to drink for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Growler at home- pours deep brown, huge light brown head. Pine, toast, dank hops, roasted malts on the nose. More roast and toast flavors initially with the pine hop resin finishes with bitterness. Not too resinous like many black IPA s. Lighter bodied. Well balanced. Drinkable ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy citrus hops, pine, faint tropical fruits, roast, and a touch of chocolate. It pours a dark brown with barely some orange highlights and a two finger khaki head that eventually fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. There are some thin webbed rings left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of chocolate with a hint of fruit. The finish has moderate pine, lighter citrus hops, and a hint of roast. It’s medium bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel. Overall, it falls into the hoppy Porter category for me...but it’s a tasty hoppy Porter.

Bottle. Black pour with a small head that fades to a messy ring. Aroma is great mix of chocolate and roast with fresh pine and citrus hops. Tastes great too. Light sweetness, moderate bitterness. Pine, medium roast, some char, oranges, grapefruit, light pineapple, and grass. Medium body. Smooth mouthfeel. Not quite as good as White Rajah but still great.

Draft pour at Hopgeist 2014 pour opaque dark brown with thin white head. Nose big pine, resin hop. Taste nice bitter up front, pine and resin hop, but not much burnt or roasted flavors. Mid palate sweet then pleasing bitter finish.

Bottle. 10/30/14. Pours opaque brown black with a creamy light brown head. Aroma is pine, citrus, grapefruit, very juicy, pineapple, roast malts, cereal, grass, spicy. Taste is dry, spicy, robust; roast malts, dry dark chocolate, pine, citrus fruits, spruce, floral, touch of resin; aftertaste is long and bitter, like chewing on a hop cone. Really nice lacing throughout. Mouth feel is chewy and medium-full bodied. Medium carbonation. Hop profile is in-your-face but not KTFO; I like that. Really nice CDA.
