Draft. Poured clear black color with an average frothy brown head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted dark rye and hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy toasted bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a very good beer.

Bottle. I was really excited to see this on the shelves today, since White Raja is one of my very favorites. Pour is decent... a dark brown with a fizzy cola head and aromas of pine and resin with a bit of roasty malt. Flavor is a let down, though. The black portion of it is very nicely done. Lots of chocolate/coffee/roast flavors, but the hops is just a bitterness and not much flavor or brightness. This is particularly disappointing because White Raja has such a wonderful pop from the late hop additions, but they get muted here. Iíll have to try a second sixer of this sometime down the road to see if I just have a mediocre batch.

No way around it! This thing is a winner. Ití alpha crazy with deep citrus and dark fruit undertones. Iím guessing this thing went under some pretty good dry hopping. Excellent offering from a super-reliable brewery. Serving: 12oz bottle

12 ounce bottle, no bottle date. Served in a DFH IPA glass, the beer pours very dark brown with a couple inch frothy light tan head. The head stayed around a long time, and thereís also a lot of lacing. The brew smells like citrusy hops (tropical fruit, grapefruit), pine hops, bittersweet chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is pretty much the same as the aroma, but thereís also some grassiness and coffee noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís slick and coating with a good amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good brew, definitely worth a try if you come across some. $11.99 a 6-pack.

From a bottle into a paper cup... "Oooh baby you!" Pours a dark black with brownish head. Aroma of bark and mint. Mouthfeel is frothy and smooth. Taste of coke, mint, coffee, dark malt and grass. Solid black ipa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

You can smell the cotta hops hiding behind the malt, it was a dark pour with a two finger head with decent lacing throughout the session. There was a hint of tropical/grapefruit taste with a slight roasted hop finish. As an IPA fan I was surprised with how good it was. I'm glad I picked up a 6er. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ Vino Bellissimo / Lima OH --- Clear amber brown color, solid tan head cover, a sheet of fine lace. Taste is semi-sweet malt that adds strong citrus hops in the palate. The hops dominate 95-5 through a long finish. A strong solid Black IPA, worth seeking out.

Could swear Iíd rated this... This is on tap at the Daily Growler, UA. Deep dark brown pour with orange tint. Aroma of caramel malt, grass. Tastes are grassy, orange, earthy, caramel, grapefruit. Thinnish pale with prickly carbonation. Not as much ashy char as most bipas. Well done.

Taster at beerfest - nose is typical and hence pleasing. Light for the style. Mildly complex flavors of roasted malts with citrus pine notes.

Aroma: Hints of grapefruit and citrus hops. Appearance: Dark amber with no head. Taste: Medium bitterness with hints of sourness at the edges. Palate: Medium body, average carbonation, slick texture, long finish. Overall: Solid, we'll developed beer. Nothing standout, but nothing disappointing, either. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Growler opened at Muckfest 2014, though Iím not sure who brought it. Whoever it was, Iím sure he or she is a jerk. Thanks, jerk! Pours a dark brown color with minimal head. Notes of dark and milk chocolate, citrus peel, earth, grass, and mild roast. Light-medium bodied, with moderate carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. Milder than many other black IPAs. Good, too.
